Forums - Gaming Discussion - Tri-Ace shows off impressive tech demo

Star Ocean developer tri-Ace is known for its advanced graphics technology. The studio is showing off that technology at a new "research and development" site.

The site, fully in English, includes materials from some of the studio's past sessions at events like CEDEC, GDC and SIGGRAPH.

There's also this clip, which is labeled "tri-Ace Technical Demo Trailer 2011."

As written at the site, the video is a "demo video of 'Physically Based Rendering version 0.1' using our game engine. This video is not related to our developing titles at all."

The demo was rendered in real time on the Xbox 360 and PS3 and runs at 30 frames per second in 720p. It uses real-time lighting and shadows. Key features include "physically-based shading models, physically-based lighting and image-based global illumination."

You can read further technical details on the clip here.

Bokeh! Looks pretty good, except for the flickering specular and the weird hair simulation/animation on the elf girl.

Currently playing: Gran Turismo 5
Just finished:
Infamous 2

The inside looks good, and the armour looks fantastic. but then again the clothes/hair physics model in resonance of fate was awesome and the environments looked like crap.

But, I am more excited for the fact that it's closer to another tri-ace game.
