Basically today has been one of those days, there's a couple of few day old discussions still going on with interesting points to reply to... but the new threads aren't even worth it, I go into some Nintendo Wii 2 rumor threads to see people going "oh no!" or "huzzah!" usually the people who have crapped on the Wii going huzzah, when I'm sitting here thinking... you know how tight lipped Nintendo was about the Wii?  Or how developers had their hands on the 3DS for over a year apparently and the only "leak" was a statement from Nintendo to inform investors there would be a new product out by fiscal years end, leaks don't really happen for Nintendo consoles even if third parties are involved...

Then you have "Three different regions, three different winners by gens end?" and I stare at this statement thinking, the Wii still has a 10 million lead in Americas and Europe, and hasn't lost it's 5 million lead in Japan... and felt it wasn't even worth opening simply because the lack of math skills would make me bang my face on the keyboard.

The Microsoft had hardly any active topics since Nsanity has been banned, Sony topics are all HAI GAIS We're awesome! Three cheers for Sony! (at least I can say there's one thing that never changes), Nintendo topics are all either doom or threads beliving the rumors about the new console, with the couple of threads I was actually participating in still going, most of the gaming threads are pointless chatter, and the ZOMG 3DS IS DOOMED! is running rampant on sales... even though the damn console has stomped a mudhole in the DS launch and the DS launched in the holiday period for two regions, DS sold 1,304,739 in the first two weeks (to give DS a better chance), and the 3DS has sold 1,940,685 and thats missing some seconds weeks in America and Australia... yet that console is dooooooooooomed!

Yeah I think I'm tired of people not being able to do basic math there lol I actually saw a person call the 3DS a flop...

Anyway that's my rant about the recent threads and posts not being worth replying to, vote and share your feelings if any lol

Though i agree to a point that we seem to have hit a rut of original thought, but that's part of the late-gen blues (though i agree that this 3 regions/3 winners thing is a mighty steaming load. Look at the numbers people!)

I wasn't on the gaming sites at all in 2005, so i don't know what it was like, but i imagine the first parts of that year were much the same (gloating from Sony fans, doom and gloom from Nintendo, and the Xbox which was dead in the water before hype for the 360 really started to pick up)

On VGC up until 2008 the community was very Nintendo and PC gamer slanted, I say PC gamer mostly because the Nintendo gamers on the site are also PC gamers  for the most part lol at least at the time with members like BenKenobi88, 2005 was just hype around the revolution, then it got the Wii title, and became it's own thing.

I did post on one site around 2004ish it was a walkthrough and hint site, and I would post about Gamecube and PS2 both having games but not being a huge fan of that gen so I was playing my PC titles, and I got trolled off that site lol though in my last few posts I took some hilarious shots at the PSP mostly because the people there thought the PSP could play gamecube discs -_- btw the shots I was taking wasn't countering trolling with trolling it was making fun of the PSP defects, PSP discs poping out while playing mostly, telling them how you could pull off a drive by with a PSP shooting discs at people.

But message board topics and amount of posting is reflected by the community that inhabits it, we actually lost a lot of good posters in 2008 replaced by some strange posters in a 5:1 ratio it seems, then when the 3.0 update hit it booted a lot of those posters off cause they couldn't post from their phones or PS3s, this lead me to the thought most of these people were actually kids without PCs cause no adult is going to have net without a PC ya know? They wouldn't get the net just for playing their PS3s and such.

Actually I tend to ignore the forums  because of some of the things you mentioned. And not only on VGC.

Ignoring facts and figures to justify someones 'opinion' is just unbearable to read.

Also, Sony and Microsoft had sections their share of similar threads that should've annoyed you. So yeah it has always sucked.

Oh I'm annoyed when any topic is beaten to death, be it which graphics are better lulz, or hi guys lets fight about exclusives for the millionth time!

Yeah I came to VGC originally because a lot of this business didn't happen back when I lurked and finally signed up, never could get into online forums because of it, but even at the worst VGC isn't bad like some other sites I've seen.

Haha indeed that's always how it goes it seems, very few would be on that list of not claiming some sort of doom for some console, thankfully I'd be on that short list doom and gloom free since 2006
