Best FPS games for me this gen are COD4, Halo 3, Orange Box, Bioshock...with honorable mentions going to the Darkness and Borderlands.

COD4 is not just the best FPS shooters , it's one of the greatest games ever made. It's also one of the games that define this Gen. Every games FPS is trying be like it.

Voted Orange Box because I enjoyed Portal a lot more than all those others combined. The fact that I am resorting to voting a puzzling game as best FPS of the generation shows just how bad this generation has been for FPS.

Note, I use bad and good to refer to my personal preferences. This has been a terrible FPS generation if you like arcade shooters, and those which prioritise gameplay and local multiplayer over graphics and online multiplayer.

Bulletstorm, Black Ops and Crysis 2 shouldn't be on the list, especially when Bad Company 2 and Bioshock are much better games than the ones listed.

Out of your list, I'd probably pick Halo: Reach.

It's difficult for me to choose between CoD 2, CoD 4: MW, Halo 3, and Halo: Reach.

One could argue that Ke$ha and Lady Gaga define the current pop sound...but you wouldn't call either of them as one the greatest artists ever would you? Unless you are LeoJ maybe...

COD4 is great but one of the greatest games ever? Especially when you consider COD2 was pretty much the same thing gameplay wise...and no one really cared about it.

nah, just the mediocre shooters are trying to be like it. Rank ups and buying weapon equipment is the only thing almost all fps have that it made popular and that doesn't affect gameplay at all. I don't understand the call of duty 4 hype. I never tried it on the pc, but on the consoles it was the same casual shit as mw2 and black ops. It was just casual shit ahead of its time.
