What about my rights as a consumer to be able to use a service that fecktards with no jobs spend their lives trying to ruin. Fuck Anon! Fuck them in the arse until they get hemorrhoids that then burst and get infected and they need rectalplasties.

What about all the people that paid $600 to use Other OS on their system only for Sony to take out the feature for the sole purpose of their own greed?

Let us hope that you don't end up in the minority about something and watch as everyone shits on you as if you're thoughts on the matter mean nothing.

Perhaps I wasn't sympathetic enough, but how does it make you feel that they are going to do these attacks in your name?

Am I going to get a record for it? Am I going to be charged?

If not, I simply don't care. I just want Sony to lose this court case and my consumer rights to remain in tact. PSN or video games aren't that important.

Video games are important to me but I am not going to sacrifice the freedom of doing what i want with a product i spent with my hard earned money.

Then you are on the same boat as me.

Plus, I am a RPG gamer. Online means little to me.

By the way, PSN isn't going to die if Sony loses this case. Only thing that happens if Sony loses this case is that things remain the way they are, which is the way it has been since... forever.

I think people are getting paranoid about piracy and hacking. XBox360 has been hacked forever and people still seem to prefer it over PSN.x

If Sony wins then your PS3 modding could be punishable by law. Even so little as putting a new casing on it.

Think about that for a moment.

Will they find out about a case mod? Probably not, but it is still the principle of the whole thing. You bought it, it is yours, end of story. Sony doesn't like you modding or hacking, then ban your PSN account.

Unless of course instead you want them to rightfully kill consoles.

Just hope you don't end up as one of those "victims of the system" who do nothing wrong but somehow end up with an unfixable bricked console because guess what, it will happen.

I agree. The wii also has the most pirates of the 3 consoles yet Nintendo sell the most hardware and software.

Alright, so me and other gamers might end up without the PSN because some group decides that Sony infringes on their rights?

To all you consumer rights people on here, how does that help me and the other millions of consumers rights who buy a PS3 to play games?

That's kinda like asking how it helps people who want to get an education, when a building gets shut down because of a protest.

The answer?  Stop thinking so short term.

So I'm thinking short term because I can't see how this will help the majority of PS3 owners in any way? Assuming this group gets whatever they want ( I assume Linux and freedom to hack their PS3s), thats a small minority of PS3 Gamers.

A)  A minorities rights are worth a damn because they inconveince the majority.

Seriously, this is the arguement you want to go with.

I mean, minority rights aren't important, so long as they don't effect the majority.  Boondocks avatar, and that's what your going with?

B) It goes on much past that however, since the legal arguement sony has applied is they can literally do anything they want to your PS3 to make you buy a new one.

Including removing things like Blu-ray playback or intentionally brick yours for no reason if they feel like it.

According to Sony, it's perfectly legal for them to brick out of warranty consoles at will, randomly for whatever reason.  If you can't see why that should be illegal... well ok.

I don't know what to say.

I assume you're comparing these consumer rights to the movement of MLK and others fighting for racial justice, etc. That's a bit of an extreme comparison, but I do understand what you're trying to say.

I'm almost positive Sony cannot brick our consoles at will for whatever reason. That's surely a case they would lose in court. This is something we can both agree on. However, I honestly don't think that this comparison is one that would strenthen your argument, because that simply is not a probable result of Sony winning the lawsuit.

I think some of you misunderstand my stance. If you want to hack your console for homebrew etc and keep it to yourself, go ahead. But Sony has an agreement on PSN, and I think it's absolutely fair that you should not be able to access PSN if you tamper with your console. What Geohot did was pretty much completely open the console up for anyone to do whatever they wanted with it, which can eventually lead to me and other honest gamers suffering with hackers online for multiplayer games, so in that respect, I do not support him or his cause.

I'm not really making that comparison.  Just noting that that's the comparison your making.  Your only defense is "I in the majority am being inconvienced because of something the minority wants."

As for them not being able to win in court?   Considering that's the EXACT arguement Sony is making in the Other OS suit... a suit many people expect they will win...

and if they do lose it's only because they decided to open up a lawsuit vs Geohotz where they now basically have two sets of lawyers argueing completely different things.

I'm pretty sure consumer rights is in the left field and actual minority rights is in the right field. As for the rest of your argument, if you guys want to hack your own systems, go ahead. But I won't fault Sony for wanting to protect their business and normal customers, especially if this might come back to hurt regular PS3 owners. And Sony gave you an option to keep Linux. I don't think Sony is required by law to update your machine or provide PSN access to you.

Either way, screw everything, I am going to hop on the boat will all those who support SONY in this fight.

Please win SONY. I love PSN and PS3, I love them so much that I don't care if I get some consumer rights torn away from me. I know that this kind of ruling could effect not only my PS3 but my Wii, Smartphone, etc... but I DON'T CARE! I only care that when I play Killzone 3 I don't have cheaters in my game!

Yeah, I hope Sony loses. Video games aren't more important than my rights.

Oh yeah, I also hope Anon makes PSN Plus free. I could use the extra $17 in my pocket since I would only be buying it to transfer a few copy protected game saves.

I could also go for some free CastleCrashers on PSN.

This is the worst post i have ever read from you. It sounds like pirate talk and just completly disrespects the hard earned money spent by people who purchased Castle Crasher and PSN plus AND to the developers of the game.

Whatever these guys do won't just hurt Sony, it hurts the consumers and the developers. The only thing they care about is themselves.

Are we talking about the Geohotz case? Because they are only going after him for distribution.

I actually don't want to hack my system.  I'm just not self centered enough to think only about myself.

Also, you do realize that if you don't update your firmware you can't play any new PS3 games right?   Sony is literally forcing you to choose between to components they promised would exist.

Not true actually.  I'd suggest reading the charges against him.

I agree. The wii also has the most pirates of the 3 consoles yet Nintendo sell the most hardware and software.

Black Ops also sold more than MW2 and was also pirated less!

Meaning that it is possible that some who pirated MW2 enjoyed it and ended up buying Black Ops.

As I have always said and will continue to say, "The effects of piracy are incredibly overblown" and gamers need to wake up.

This argument didn't matter at all until PS3 got hacked and to be honest it only adds fuel to the fire about PS3 fans being the worst. They are the only ones getting bent out of shape about piracy while at the same time witnessing that the big pirated consoles sell more software!

Edit - Actually I believe Black Ops was pirated a bit more, but still, it ended up selling more than MW2 and continues to do so, even with all 3 consoles now being able to play pirated software.
