"I think piracy wouldn't be as much of an issue if there were better PC games out there."

I stopped reading there. What a self-contagious arrogant jerk.

Especially as I haven't experienced 'that shit' since about 2000.

you are lucky it seems as soon as I think that games just work I find something game breaking, I can usally fix the problem in a few minutes with a quick google search/common sense. Exept those damn videos in Darksiders damn they piss me off...

The only game I can recall having problems with recently was Batman:AA, and that was down to GfWL. The Dragon Age 2 demo kept crashing, but given what I'd seen of it, I wasn't bothered.

I disagree on there being two separate kinds of gamers, PC and console. I was, and still am a PC gamer, but got sick and tired of installing games, checking forums to find out why: the sound didn't work/ game crashes/ update video sound driver/update sound card driver bullshit. It's hard for me to adjust to using a joystick, and I still wonder why in the hell they don't slap a marble mouse on a controller for aiming. I use a marble mouse on my pc, it works great.

PC gamers in general have much higher standards for games than do console gamers. You just have to look at the distribution of scores of games now with the year 2000, and it will be plain as day.

If anything, i'd say it was more... different standards then higher standards.

Things like Mods and digital distribution means games have a longer shelf life.  People actually care less about graphics even though games can push graphics better... as people will usually crank down the graphics to get extra preformance... and old classics stick around.

So things are more gameplay focused.  It's not "Mario Kart Double Dash is good, the others better, but this one is a worthy followup."

It's... "Why would I play Mario Kart 64... when the others are way  bette?  Also Pac-man and Sonic are playable now thanks to modders... along with new tracks."

Well yes, I agree about the different part. Now I'm not implying that the ratings were a normal distribution with average of 50, however the average was probably a bit lower than it is now. One day when I fidn time I'll plug games into excel to find the exac distribution.

What you are describing through is more shown in the sales numbers of new games, than the ratings themselves. Newer games wouldn't sell as much, and older ones would have some ridiculous legs.
