I'm really pissed off. I have 2 friends who downloaded Yakuza 4, and I lost all respect for them. This is all the hackers fault for providing such tools. It is not fair to the devs that created the game, and those who prefer to be legit gamers. I bought my copy fair and square and I want justice!

You are right Geohot and other hackers need to pay for forcing your (ex?)friends to pirate games. If you want justice rat on your (ex?)friends with that stupid anti piracy hotline. If they like the game you may be able to sway them to purchase it new for $40(if they are in the USA).

OT: SInce this is a civil case, lets assume Sony proves to the court that geohot profited exclusively due to the hack. I still am not clear how this would effect the case......of course I dont know a thing about the law.

OK, take a closer read at what I posted. No one forced anyone into pirating the game. The fact of the matter is this, if the hack was not published, no pirating would have taken place.

Yeah, if they didn't manufacture the guns, my friends wouldn't have shot people. I blame the guns manufacturers.

your sarcasm is so obvious it is disgusting.

But, if you wish to get technical on this matter so be it. anyone who thinks logically can weigh in the differences of the crime. thank goodness you're not a judge or a lawer..

edit: hackers/pirater, i blame them all

Do as i say. Not as I do.

If you want we can jail hackers/pirates with the same sentences of killers what do you think??? Would it work for you?

And altough i don't like guns, and think USA is almost a joke on the rigth to have one, it's a legal bussiness, so don't compare their liability with a illegal or not regulated one.

Actually what you guys are talking about would be jailing gun manufactures-ie the tool provider. As geohot has still not pirated games nor hacked the PSN like so many of you seem to believe. I guess we should also jail car  makers too. I mean they cause so many accidents. Tobacco farmers also. People who make knives should be jailed. See where I am going? perhaps we should not blame the tools or tool makers, but those who use tools for harm. Like the people who actually pirate or hack the psn none of which geohot is accused of. hmmmm.

Edit:

Is sony sueing anybody who has actually pirated sony games/ps3 games or anyone who has hacked onto the psn? Just asking, if so please provide a link.

Yes because the main aim of a car maker is to kill people in accident we must jail them... about tobacco their main aim isn't the death but have a consumer... about weapons i completly oppose guns but they are sold to protection not to kill - manufacturers excuse...

Geohot hacking were distributed to use, for CFW, pirate you name it... but liability can be input if there is forceability of the result...

Gun and Tobacco makers don't get busted all the ways because of Lobbies, and if you want i accept you demand all people holding guns to be jailed, smokers wouldn't make much sense but jail both the user and the company....

You say too much about user's right but now you want to go buyers not against guns, tobacco and car makers?

His CFW was not intended for pirating. It was designed for homebrew use of the ps3, i will say it again not for pirating. Others did thework for pirating. So are you geohotz side than? it seems you should be as his main aim was not pirating at all. But just homebrew which is perfectly legal. I'll say it one time, he did not pirate games and dony is not sueing him for that.

Rofl, Sony not only has operations in California but they also have first party studios in that state as well ie. SCEA Santa Monica Studios. I truly hope they get this PoS. Gaming is a LUXURY therefore piracy has ABSOLUTELY NO JUSTIFICATION!!! I am no saint and approximately 12 yrs ago I engaged in such act with kazaa for music and DBZ episodes in Japanese. I don't earn a whole lot but I buy what I can as far as games and movies (barely making 12k a year but I also go to college). I really hope he ends up owing millions just like that guy in Australia who uploaded that Mario game (forget if it was SMG or NSMBW).

I love how people say "oh but teh homebrew." Seriously, spare me. Any semi tech savvy person can do so much more on a built comp from newegg using linux and still have more power than the ps3. Linux was never a promise and thanks to Georgie over here the "homebrew brigade" lost a nice little feature. Yes we own the product and yes I should be allowed to turn my ps3 into a vacuum cleaner, but when I am using a Sony product to try and play NES games which belong to Nintendo, or obtaining games for free that can put up and coming developers out of business then we have an issue. Ohhh but but they are teh badz developers! Hmmm lets see. Do we want more developers to enter the business and try new things or is it acceptable to have more mediocrity and more of the same every year from a big name dev or publisher such as Activision? Look at Pandemic, Cavia, a couple. Then we have the excuse of "but ohhh that game is only 6 hours long but back in the day games took foreverz!!!" Hmmm unless you were playing an rpg, game were fairly short. Super Mario Bros. 1 and 3 I can beat within the hour mark and I am sure many others can beat them faster than me. The way I see it, as long as you enjoy the game it is worth the price tag. Oh what was that? You complain that games are 60$? How much were games during Nintendo's NES reign? Thought so. Unlike the near monopoly Nintendo enjoyed, nowadays we are blessed with so many options thanks to the competition and we should be thankful. Anyways sorry I am all over the place, I just hope I somehow got my point across. I don't expect to change minds but at least show a point of view.

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.

Again if this is about piracy why is sony not sueing for that? I mean really guys. Do some research. Read the lawsuit. Your point of view is great, it just does not apply here as sony is not sueing for piracy. Guess i'll say it again, sony is not sueing for piracy.

I didn't said he pirated or that Sony is sueing him for this... But to enable CFW use in PSN is a breach of contract... and what i said is if his work facilitate hackers (the ones that help pirates directly) and pirates then Sony will try a sue...

I don't support Geohotz... I don't see great use for me in CFW but i accept people that love them, but i can't support their fight against a breach of contract of their part. Anyway if Geohot didn't done the shit CFW would still be supported by Sony and PSP where official until the piracy got stronger.
