Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Mario games are 12 for 12 this gen -- All million-sellers

I think they made about 10 too many mario games. They should try to get some new IP's instead of always making mario games.

We need a new Mega Man with a complex story. Turn it into DMC just with Mega Man stuff and elements.

i dont think thats would be such a good idea

megaman was gay to start with, I hope they just make a few more games to suck up money on the DS maybe one console and then end it.

The first four Megaman games ruled. 5 was ok.. but the robot masters got lame. 6 was the same. 7 was pretty awesome. Megaman Soccer was amazing. Everything eslse sucked though. Well except Battle Chip Challenge, but that might just be my bias towards card game videogames... as I love card games but am either too smart or too much of a cheap ass to buy collectable cards.

You know, Nintendo makes new IP:s. Problem is, that the old ones are so popular and have been existing so long, that there are so many of them anyway. Pikmin is new IP in Nintendos timescale, Project Hammer, Disaster. Brain Training, the "Wii series". Nintendogs. Plus a shitload of Zelda and Mario spinoffs without the original IP. You should more likely ask, that is there any other developer, who makes so many new IP:s.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

I didn't like 'em anyway. To me, the Megaman franchise was getting kinda old, and the X series didn't change anything. I mean, it changed up the story... but the story wasn't the problem with the Megaman franchise because the story wasn't what the Megaman games were about. It would of been like if they made 6 Mario Platformers on the NES, then made another mario platformer on the snes EXACTLY the same... but instead of saving princess peach he had to save Princess tagnerine in cauliflower kingdom. 7 was just awesome because it was more of a "fanservice" type game, with flashbacks of old megaman lore.

Actually, the X series did try to change it up a bit, such as the numerous upgrades (Helmet, armour, better X buster, slide), and you had to fill up the energy tanks as opposed to just collecting them. Also, the graphics are better in the X series as opposed to 7.

I didn't mean all of the X series; the first two are personally my favorites, and for me, they are way better than 7.

Yeah, they didn't change much in the story, but at least they tried to change it. With 7, there was Wily and Protoman again. With the X series, Sigma and Zero, and Dr. Light is dead.

Yeah, but those were all very minor changes in my opinion. Collecting the armor awasn't that big of a deal honestly. Honestly I think i'd gotten sick of the Megaman gameplay after 4, and just kept on playing 5 and 6 because of the familiar megaman lore that i had enjoyed watching the cartoon. The first one with the "Super Fighting Robot" Themesong. Once I got to X, They changed that part, so when i played it... there really wasn't anything keeping me playing gameplay that had already gone stale. Then I picked up 7 later on in the SNES life, not sure when it released, but i got it around the time Megaman X4 or something was released... and it let me relive some of my fonder memories of the NES games. Even still today when i feel like playing a Megman I just fire up 1, 2 3 or 4. I don't even bother with 5 or 6. I don't own 7 though. Not sure i'd play it if I did. 7 was just a rental for me.
