Forums - General - Social network is an over-rated movie

I recently watched social network and did'nt understand why it was so praised. The founder was bascially abit of an a-hole. He lead those twins on and basically copied there idea and he squeezed his freind out of the business, after setting him up,with a contract he did'nt really read. These people sue him and he ends up settling out of court with them. I also have to mention the founder of naptser whoring himself into the business of facebook, which start's a rift between mark and his freind. The movie was alright, but it was nothing special are amazing. It was just a simple premise of Mark Zukerberg cheating his way to being a billonaire. So,why the praise of such a generic, run of the mill movie?

Because it was a well done generic run of the mill movie?

I'm not saying it was a terrible movie, but it did'nt blow me away. I've seen much better movies.

Some cool kids thinks a movie (or something else)  is cool = "everyone" wants the movie (or something else) to be cool = movie (or whatever) becomes cool.

Same shit with Harry Potter and other mediocre phenomenon (yes, I went there).

Harry Potter being mediocre and worse is not "I went there" material, it's a fact. The films are SHIT.

OT: I actually thought The Social Network was good, and good in the way twesterm described it.

I'll agree there.

I didn't like how the Finkleberg twins or whatever their names were, were generally portrayed as villains... even though, yeah they basically got screwed.

I didn't quite understand what message if any the film was trying to convey... best I can tell was...

"It's ok to screw over rich people, but not your friends, but it sorta is because if you can do something great you should, but then you'll be lonely and pathetic so don't... but do."

I liked it... I think True Grit was a better movie though and should of won the award.  (I don't even know who did when said award though.)
