Forums - Sales Discussion - Xbox 360 vs Wii - Americas / US 2011 Battle

A thread to discuss who´s gonna take 2011 in Americas... My bet is on 360 with a price cut at E3 2011 it will blow Wii out of Water in US this year and have its best year ever.

X360 503,506 (-94%) 30,123,242
DS 497,283 (-95%) 54,263,949
Wii 480,091 (-95%) 40,384,489

Wii could have a price cut too, what if Nintendo do a gold wii bundle with skyward sword and wii sports resort for $150, and they do that bundle to celebrate 25 years of zelda.

Buying in 2015: Captain toad: treasure tracker,

mario maker

new 3ds

yoshi woolly world

zelda U

majora's mask 3d

I think it will be close between the two but I also think both will be down from 2010 levels. And both will get a price cut, and the Wii will definitely have some new bundles for holiday 2011.

Bah!

This is all entirely dependant on whether Nintendo has something in store to boost Wii sales, like more bundles for future releases, or if they have software in store that will expand the market once again (eg Wii Relax).

Sales race threads like these are kinda pointless when Nintendo's involved, because they always keep their cards very close to their chest up until the very last moment. We don't know what they have planned for the Wii this year. A lot of people in this thread are going to assume they don't have anything planned for the Wii this year, mostly because they would like to see the Wii lose. But the truth is we're not going to know for sure until Nintendo wants us to know, or the year is almost over.

3DS could if Nintendo's production is large enough.

Might be a close combat till October, but November and December are the Wii open season.

By the time October arrives the 360 will probably be ahead of the Wii by about 500k units in America....However that will be erased in a couple of weeks due to the holiday season (where the Wii dominates)

I figure the Wii will be ahead of the 360 by about 400-1000k by the end of the year.
