This is getting on my nerves. It shouldn't take 5 hours to download a 50 MB patch when my internet connection normally does that in 15 minutes (still very slow compared to the connections that most of you have), but this just sux horse testicles.

A patch, or a firmware update? I just updated my PS3 firmware recently, and that took a prettly long time. Not five hours though, more like 2.

You should just get ps plus for automatic downloads. I never see those damn firmwares anymore lol

The Firmware Update didn't take that long for me...for some reason that patches are soooo slow. Its driving me insane. Games and demos seem to be downloading well too.

I don't have this problem. Took me like 20 mins, tops.

Yeah, I have this problem, too... but only when downloading via WiFi, if I'm connected using a cable, it downloads at the speed of the connection.

I like to think of it as foreplay.  The PS3 COULD give you your udates hard and fast but it doesn't.  The PS3 likes to romance you and tease you with its updates and patches.  It gets you all nice and ready for some sweet, sweet gaming.  And when you can't take it anymore and you're nice and juicy, you whisper "Patch me, PS3.  Please.....patch me."  That's when the PS3 crams its big steaming update inside your hard drive.

When you have to wait for it, you appreciate it more.
