Sony is not cutting prices because of MS is selling more than them in America.


Well obviously they won't, but if they want to be on top they have to.

Sony wants to make money, they are already getting close to the 360, less than 3 million gap now. There is no way the PS3 is staying at $299 in its fith year. Let's just be patient.

PS  I dunno if you guys remember, but these kinds of "lopsided" numbers aren't new between these two consoles.  This has happened multiple times throughout the gen, I wouldn't count on the numbers being permantly 2 to 1 or anything.  We have to see how Kinect does over a long time also.  Should be fun.

I can.  Sony is making money.  Sony is selling consoles worldwide.  Sony would like to keep making money.  Price cut does not make Sony more money if it cut into their profits.  Being second is another way of saying I was the best loser of a race.  Only fanboys care about who is second or third more than those big coporation who love it when they stop losing money and start to make it.

10 year life span says Sony can sit on a price cut until the competition does something.



Reasonable on 03 February 2011

I've always said the HD consoles had split the market globally, but it's funny to see it looking so exact.  360 selling approx 2 to 1 for PS3 in US and PS3 selling approx 2 to 1 for 360 in the rest of the world.

At this point and with these trends and pretty much every card bar price played it's hard to imagine anything other than these trends continuing.

Wii actually okay from a worldwide perspective, kind of not on top anywhere but close enough in every market to remain viable and hold it's worldwide lead.

Looks like EA will be happy with Dead Space 2, and LBP2 doing well with Japan still to add to the total.



Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Imagine if the PS3 was 199 instead of 299.  You can't do everything, I'm afraid.
