Why give SMG2 best Wii game thus far and a perfect score of masterful if it doesn't even win GOTY. So in conclusion Mass Effect 2> all the games on Wii. <_>

because a 10 on wii and 10 on HD consoles isnt the same thing.

if they were the same i dont think we would ever see great games like mass effect. instead every developer would make a platformer with ok graphics and get more sales and a higher score while at the same time saving effort on pushing the hardware to its limits through evolving game engines.

Wait, are you implying that Galaxy 2 is graphically unimpressive, because I think it sure as hell is best looking game on the Wii (even if on discounts that it runs at a rock solid 60fps) and pushes it's respective system more than almost any other game this gen.

God of War 3 is a fantastic game (as are 1 and 2) but better than Mass Effect 2?  Not even close.   Do you guys realize how incredibly epic this game is?  2 or 3 console generations from now people will look back at 2010 as the time when Mass Effect 2 defined this generation.

Can I ask how it defined the 7th gen?

I would say the defining games of the 7th gen so far are mainly:

Wii Sports (Instrumental to the Wii's success, illustrates motion control and the growth of 'pick up and play' games on consoles)

NSMBDS and/or Wii (Shows the 7th gen's resurgent platformer genre and Nintendo's rise, Wii version also shows importance of split screen multiplayer)

Any 7th gen CoD (Rise of the FPS in popularity, among the biggest genres in West, online play)

Nintendogs (rise of the so called 'casual gamer', handhelds dominate more than in past generations)

Wii Fit (growing acceptance of games in mainstream culture, fitness games, interactive)

Monster Hunter/Dragon Quest IX (handheld dominance of Japan, high profile 3rd party support of DS/PSP)

I like the fact that bioware has been so greatly rewarded for their worst effort yet. I mean- have the people who keep praising me2 ever played a bioware game before? Or even a WRPG?

The Galaxy 2 review was written by one person, while the IGN GOTY is made on the concensus of multiple writers on the IGN team (just like VGChartz has reviews written by one person but the GOTY is voted on by multiple VGC Staff members).

So while the reviewer for Galaxy 2 loved the game and awarded it a 10, other members from the IGN team also loved Mass Effect 2, and more members gave the game a higher ranking.

This was a big controversy when Okami beat out both Twilight Princess and Bioshock in the 2006 IGN GOTY.

I had forgotten about the HD bias at IGNorant.

More like /fail.

Mass Effect 2 defined this gen?!

Yeah, sales numbers say otherwise.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

Well, from what I've heard, Mass Effect is a pretty incredible game (not much of a RPG/shooter kind of guy myself, but maybe I'll try it out down the road), so I can definitely see it as a game that can draw in some GOTY awards (hey, it won here at VGC too). Galaxy 2 was my personal GOTY, as I loved that game to death, and it's also won multiple GOTY around the 'net as well. So both games (as well as many others) can be proud of what they accomplished.

So I'm just happy the game is played by more than 6 million people around the world, and hopefully they're loving it just as much as I am. ^_^

Funny Vid.  Awesome Choice :)

BOOM!  FACE KICK!
