Forums - Gaming Discussion - Crytek: James Cameron Loves Crysis 2 in 3D

Developer reveals Hollywood legend has seen upcoming sequel in 3D; claims Crysis 2 is 3D “benchmark”.

Crytek has revealed that James Cameron saw Crysis 2 running in 3D – and was a big fan.

Cevat Yerli, president and creative director at Crytek, told us the news when we interviewed him as part of the Modern Warfare feature which looks at the next generation of the FPS, and is on the cover of our new issue, E224.

Yerli confirms that Crysis 2 is not Crytek’s first foray into 3D, saying that the developer began work two and a half years ago on a project that was exclusively in stereoscopic 3D. “A lot of this knowledge is now in the Crysis 2 3D experience,” he says. “That’s why we have, in my opinion, a benchmark 3D implementation.”

Yerli even draws comparison between Crytek’s upcoming sequel and the Cameron-directed smash hit that has fuelled Hollywood’s current love for all things three-dimensional. “I’ll even claim it’s the same as Avatar’s status in 3D,” he says.

“James Cameron has seen Crysis 2, and he loved what he saw because his eyes are trained for 3D more than anyone else’s, and that makes me confident that we have a super-high-end 3D experience on all formats.”

When asked what led one of Hollywood’s most successful directors to see Crysis 2, Yerli laughs and says: “that’s another story.”

E224 should be dropping through subscriber post boxes in the next few days, and will be with newsagents on January 18.

Mmmm...I'm starting to worry about Crysis 2...

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

well my brother who works and free loads off my parents bought an 3D tv today and now i am excited in getting 3D games along with him. And reading this wants me to get Crysis 2 but i dont know how Crysis 2 will look on the PS3 since its mainly an PC title built for PC that dont exist yet until 3 years post release that can run them . Hopefully the PS3 verison has kick ass 3D and looks great and is not an crappy Port

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

James Cameron, the asshole that made, the non-innovative and most predictable movie ever, Avatar ?

well, he made T1 and T2 so I forgive him ...

Avatar sucked. When i went an saw it half way though the movie something hit me. the movie Plot and story is totally unoriginal. All he did was take any White Americans vs Native Americans Movie and placed it in the future on an different planet.

Watch an movie based in the old times america with Indians about an white man learning the ways of the Indians while an spy and the whites destroy there home then the fight revenge with the white guy that feels bad. Hell there are many stories and movies on the exact same thing.

But he did make make T2 my favourite movie of all time

Crysis 2 is a console title ported to PC. It even asks you to press Start at the beginning on PC...

You were probably thinking of Crysis 1, which is a completely different thing.
