Gears of War 1 and Left 4 Dead 1

Around the Network

On console only hmm,

Burnout paradise doing the co-op challenges was a lot of fun (with competent people)

Resistance 2 8 player co-op was very addictive as well.

MW2 people shouting the n word. Hilarious.

why the PC hate?

now i can't post a game because I haven't played any console games online : |

Check out my hype threads: Cyberpunk, and The Witcher 3!

Killzone 2.  I've never had so much fun playing a game online.  Then it got ruined by a bunch of rocket/grenade launcher spammers.  I went back to playing it the other day and didn't witness any spammers.  Maybe I'll go back to playing after midterms.

Definitely Halo 2.  Me and my friends would pull all-nighters and have a blast playing Halo 2, we all sucked ass at it but it didn't matter since we were having a ton of fun.

And to a lesser extent we did it with Halo 3 but unfortunately I haven't really had any amazing fun moments online with Halo Reach.

The original Gears of War on 360. No contest. The game was addictive and satisfying!

I second this.  Gears multiplayer had it all: trash-talking, visceral game play, and those crazy 1 v 4 moments where both sides watched you pull out a miracle (or die craptacularly)...

I've played a ton of multiplayer this gen still chasing that high I got with Gears 1.

The single, greatest online experience I ever had and will only, probably, be toped by it's successor, is without a shadow of a doubt, Diablo II LOD.

Nothing in my 15 years of online gaming has come close to the experience that the countless hundred, if not thousands, of hours in that great game have provided to me.

Since the OP also asked a console counterpart in the case of us posting a PC game, currently, the best online experience I've had is Demon's Souls. The entire game is an online experience unto itself, with it's functionalities very well executed within the game.
