Forums - Sales Discussion - Nintendo PR for 2010 sales

Even with all the pessimistic predictions, Wii sold good. Broke another record when this seems like something impossible to predict by people with common sense...

Hell why doesnt Nintendo just sell the Wii for $150 with the entire Nintendo library or maybe Nintendo wants to sell software. Week after week Nintendo gives away about 20-25% of the software VGC reports as sold.

Oh, not you with this again. Bundling is an strategy to push users to buy the console. And it's not like every game that has a bundle doesn't sell alone for the matter.

Not talking about a part time bundle. People are suggesting that Nintendo add a 3rd game to the bundle and reduce price by $50.  The further you get in the gen the more people who purchase a console and dont purchase much additional software so bundling 3 games with the console is a console that wont have many titles purchased for.

Wait, they were suggesting a third game? I thought they were talking about replacing WSR like Nintendo's already done in the NSMBW bundle. That would've been ridiculous.

Anyway, at this point in the generation, I don't believe selling software matters all that much to Nintendo though. They've already made a ton of profit off Wii and they just need to try and replicate this next generation and the more people that buy a Wii, the more people will have Bii as their first choice when buying nextgen consoles. Therefore, at this point, I'd say that maintaining a big userbase matters more to Nintendo than selling software. I'm not saying that they should bundle three games with the hardware, but if they need to do it to move the hardware, (I don't think they do, but if they're desperate at some point I guess) they will.

For people with selective memory, there is no such thing as a lesson learned. They will just come back again and again with the same falsehoods, no matter what the actual facts are. And anything that contradicts what they believe, they will ignore.

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

A lot of people thought that WII was doomed last year. Then as I expected and it's even better than I expected it's done above 84M last year and it will top 100M this year the end most people predectid is still nowhere in sight.

Congratulation Nintendo.

Actually yesterday I checked with TheSource to see if the Wii was over-tracked because people kept telling me it was and he said that the Wii Isn't over-tracked...

People(you too) think that the Wii is over-tracked because it says 34-35 Million...but that is for the United States alone. VGC tracks all of America...the other 4-5 Million is from Canada, Mexico, and Latin America.

Please stop saying it is over-tracked.

Actually I think people are being pretty subdued about this.  Think they are hearing just what the NPD numbers turn out to be before wondering if VGC estimates may be wrong. By the way if US is 34-35 and 4-5 more is Canada, Mexico and Latin America then VGC will be over-tracked by anywhere from 500K to 2.5M since VGC will be at 40.5M when the final week of 2010 is reported in the next few days.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.
