Forums - Gaming Discussion - More Mass Effect 2 Content Coming

IGN

BioWare plans to release one more downloadable content package for Mass Effect 2 in 2011.

The developer made the announcement through its Daily News posting, and added that Cerberus Network news updates will cease this month on Jan. 24. However, there will be additional updates when the downloadable content is available next year, and leading up to the release of Mass Effect 3 during holiday 2011.

Below is the statement in full from the team:

The Cerberus Daily News will begin a hiatus on January 24th, finishing its run of one full year. Daily postings will cease except for three weeks in 2011: a week of posts will precede a downloadable content release, and two more weeks will lead up to the release of Mass Effect 3.

The CDN team thanks fans for their attention, comments, and feedback, (both in and out of character!). We are sorry to go, but we had fun –- we hope you did, too!

Mass Effect 2 has seen its fair share of post-release downloadable content. Add-ons "Overlord," "Kasumi - Stolen Memory," and "Lair of the Shadow Broker" expanded the game's storyline. The title also saw several weapon pack downloads.

It's possible in the same sense that any given quantity of air transmuting into gold is possible - technically possible, but no, it's not going to happen.

Well I still wish downloadable content would come out sooner, I mean I beat Mass Effect 2 in January of last year and their are so many new games coming soon. This equals failure because they lose money I would have otherwise spent.

I think the DLC will be for the PC. I saw this message yesterday, and I play the PC version.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

It'll probably be a solid DLC to connect ME2 to ME3 just like Lair of the Shadow Broker.

that isn't even surprising.

they do want to sell at least some DLC to the new PS3 fanbase

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

So this does mean that the PS3 owners who get all the existing DLC have to buy more.... very annoying

The DLC will be for X360 and PS3..

And yet, most people in this thread (including me) will get it day one.
