2011: The swan song year for

DS 35 16.36%

PSP 107 50.00%

Wii 29 13.55%

Other system 27 12.62%

None of them 16 7.48%

Total:214

One or both of PSP and PS2. I can't see Sony supporting two near death systems with a baby on the way.

Tease.

I don't anticipate it getting major first party releases after Pokemon Black and White, but we may see a few here and there.

Agreed.  There's Kirby, maybe Fire Emblem, that Pokemon Typing game... other than that, I think the best we can hope for are 3rd party pickups, like Level 5 and Dragon Quest localizations.

hmm, where are the360 and ps3?

Considering 360 is in the middle of its best year, I think it is fair to say 360 should not be on the list, also Wii prob shouldnt either. I see why DS though as 3DS is coming.

DS won't be discontinued, Gameboy Micro says hi.

It's about losing support. Even if Nintendo released the gameboy micro they didn't release any games for the system.

What?

The GBA Micro came out I think in November 2005.  However, Nintendo localised Final Fantasy VI, my 2nd favourite game ever made and IMO the best RPG ever, in the summer of 2007.

Don't forget the likes of Mother 3, Tales of Phantasia and Rhythm Heaven GBA (or whatever it was called), they all are very high profile games launched after the GBA Micro landed.

For comparison, looking to GBA/DS and PS2/PS3 support might give us a good idea.

Looking at just US releases, after DS launched Nintendo still published the following on GBA...

  • The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap (Capcom / Flagship) Jan 2005

  • Pokemon Emerald (Game Freak / Creatures Inc) May 2005
  • Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones (Intelligent Systems) May 2005
  • Yoshi Topsy-Turvy (Artoon) Jun 2005
  • Pokemon: Jhoto Photo Finish (GBA Video) Jun 2006
  • Dynasty Warriors Advance (Koei / Omega Force) Aug 2005
  • DK: King of Swing (Paon) Sep 2005
  • Donkey Kong Country 3 (Rare) Nov 2005
  • Dr. Mario & Puzzle League (Nintendo / Intelligent Systems) Nov 2005
  • Final Fantasy IV Advance (Square Enix / Tose Software) Dec 2005
  • Mario Tennis: Power Tour (Camelot Software Planning) Dec 2005
  • Drill Dozer (Game Freak) Feb 2006
  • Tales of Phantasia (Namco / Namco Tales Studio) Mar 2006
  • Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team (Chunsoft) Sep 2006
  • Final Fantasy V Advance (Square Enix / Tose Software) Nov 2006

We never get Mother 3 and Rhythm Heaven here in America and Tales of Phantasia was a really small release.

360 has always been dead in Japan, and if the Wii is dead in Japan then the PS3 is a zombie. PSP is still doing somewhat weel in EMEAA.

Above: still the best game of the year.
