Forums - PC Discussion - Caesar 3

Who else here thinks this game is awesome? I've had this game since i was 10 or so and it is still one of my favorite pc games of all time. It is definitely my favorite strategy/city building game. Imo it has aged quite well, the gameplay is excellent and addictive. Anytime I start playing the game again, I end up playing it for several hours at a time.

Yeah, I remember playing it and loving it during the 90's.  Just like any of the other sim games, I only really had fun with it when I cheated.  >_>

Brilliant game. Caesar 3, Zeus and Pharaoh sucked up dozens upon dozens of hours of my life. Shame that Caesar 4 was a bit crap, but 3 is available on GoG for buttons.

Oh I thought you were refering to the Dog Whisperer. Oops wrong thread.

Forgot to say- I loved the music on Caesar 3 as well. Many's the time I've crawled into bed at three in the morning with it going round in my head.

Classic game!

I did like it but I usually spent my time playing either Civilization or Age of Empires.

I spent ages playing this game and Pharaoh back about 8 or 9 years ago.  I really feel like playing it again

Yeah I've been staying up late playing it, i hadn't played it in a long time and I never really could manage the money that well so I used the well cheat. Though now I haven't had to cheat at all since I started playing again.

Yea, I still play this game from time to time.

I'd try to get unlimited money and just have fun trying to build a city. I usually end up doing that for games like this from Roller Coaster Tycoon to Sim City.

I could never seem to get goods delievered efficiently from one area of the city to another so I'd always run out of something devolving all my damn houses.

Oh my god yes! Caesar 3 is so great. used to play it in latin class and now own it.

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."
