Kinect doing the way it should considering it's marketing.

Move doing the way it should considering it's marketing.

ENOUGH said.

where do you come from? did you see the move advertisement in europe? adverts every day in every freaking tv break for month now (in germany).

kinect advertising? not only one advert since launch!

maybe in usa its vice versa but in europe sony is doing a lot and microsoft is doing nothing to sell kinect. dont know about uk but in germany its crazy and i dont think move is selling ten times better here but they should if you talk about marketing.

in canada there is lots of move advertising too.   not a whole lot of kinect specific ones but it gets advertising from games like dance central, so its got a fair amount.

There's a whole lot more Kinect ads in Canada than Move ones.  That's for damn sure.

@ OP:  So Microsoft is selling more Kinect bundles in its first month than Sony is selling Move bundles in its third?  No shit Watson. ¬_¬

No, MS has sold 5 times more Kinect Bundles in just one month than Sony has sold Move Bundles in 3 months time.  He was comparing totals, not just the month of November.

Oh really.

"About one fifth of PS3 sales included bundles with Sony's Move controller, suggesting a modest third month.  About half of Xbox 360 sales included bundles with Microsoft's Kinect peripheral, suggesting a strong first month."

Now, pardon my confusion.

Ok, now I'm really confused.  I am getting lost in two different threads about this, I think.  The other thread/story says 1/3 of PS3 sales were Move bundles...

Gamespot mix-up it seems.

I'm calling bullshit, that means in 25 days Kinect sold 2.5m (This is true)  and Move only sold 500k (This however, is not)?

Way to troll Pachter, now tell us the moon isn't made of cheese...

The OP was talking about console bundles =/

2 bundles vs 1

dont know why sony didnt release 349 160gb with move

i believe the whole move starter pack cost about $50 to manufacture

a ps3 320gb probably cost around the same as the 160gb i would guess thats like $280

so its more of a trick b/c people think there getting a console that cost $350 since the 320gb replaced the 250gb that were $350 months ago and there getting the move starter pack for another $50 instead of the stand alone price of $100

when in reality is just a trick by sony to profit more so there probably making a $70 profit on those $400 move console bundles compared to a $20 they would had they bundled it with the 160gb

so i guess i answered my own question

but it still doesnt make sense arent they not profiting much with the stand alone 160gbs? they wouldnt be losing any more had they bundled move with it for $349

I still ain't bought mines yet

I think people thought this was another one of Patcher's predictions. He was getting this information from the NPD reports. The XBoix 360 sold 1.37 million units in November and the PS3 sold 530K in the U.S. So it pretty easy to see how the XBox 360/Kinect bundle could have outsold the PS3 Move bundles 5 to 1.

Chances are very good that the price of these bundles will be lowered next before the next holiday season in 2011.

Microsoft has spent it's dollars putting sales representatives in stores like Bestbuy in order to show the consumer what the product is about.

Sounds like they need to throw some more bones at Europe...always surprises me to see the sales parity issues between NA and Europe....

Finally, perhaps the sales for Move are so bad because most young males are already playing with their balls....anymore and there will be widespread blindness...

Sales of the hardware profit wise are pointless to discuss...the real importance is getting your hardware in peoples hands so that they can buy your games....the profit is in the games/online presence(content), not the hardware.

No.  It's never pointless to discuss the profit of hardware.

It is when it revolves around console hardware, if the makers could produce $0 consoles in order to sell their software and make their investors happy, we'd all be sporting $0 consoles.

The money in games is online content and software, it is not in making $20 off of 500,000 console sales.

I beg to disagree. While selling consoles is the number one priority, add on hardware is also important, especially when considering how a lot of Move (and all Kinect) titles work only with the add on. The companies need to quickly establish a large install base that will encourage developers to make quality games which in turn will expand the base even further.  And that is when the mega bucks start rolling in.

In any event the numbers dont lie. MS is currently whipping Sony in the motion controls renaissance of the 7th generation of console gaming.
