Forums - Sony Discussion - Wolds worst reason to buy a PS3

@ yojimbo - I'm 20, why?

Around the Network

Well, that was a very constructive post. I really liked the part off "Now I'm a nintendo fanboy". It really shows you are open minded and objective. I also find it a good thing that you criticize the lack of good games and gameplay on the PS3 and yet are not playing games on your precious Nintendo which has the best games and gameplay.

Amazing how you find the time to watch the commercial and post crap about another system, with the 10.000 hours of gameplay on Zelda and then there's the replay value which should keep you occupied for another millennium.

I think you should call your local Sony Headquarters and tell them you should handle their PR from now on. According to your signature you can't be flamed for your opinion and that's the one that matters after all right? Good luck with the rest of your life and your next string of well thought arguments.

The worst reason to buy a PS3 is "potential". The best reason to buy any system are for the games that are already out (hopefully this will occur for the PS3 sometime next year). Bluray isn't a bad reason anymore since it appears that all of the pricecuts for HD-DVD players have been unsuccessful in turning the tide of that format war. I know a bunch of moviebuffs that are getting the 40GB model and cashing in on those fantastic free movie deals.

Despite his bias, (which he admitted right up front) Also here Australia the few ps3 ads I have seen, what they have been pushing is blu-ray and not much mention of the games. A cynic may say they have given up on selling it for games, but it does show where Sonys priorities are, there with pushing blu-ray way before selling great games.

Obviously I'm not in the UK so I don't know what their ad's say over there, but I have a feeling that the OP is leaving many things out to twist his argument (a very poor one at that) to his advantage.

Here in the States they are showing off the games and all of that. In fact, I'd have to say that the ad campaign here in the US has been quite good since the new focus at the end of october till now. And gameplay? You are complaining about gameplay? I think the gameplay is quite good for many of the games and they are quite a bit of fun. I can understand complaining about delays with highly anticipated games coming out in the near future.

I think that the thread starter just made this post as a nintendo fanboy, and pulled out the "but I ow a PS3 too!" card because that justifies everything and means he can start a flame thread about anything.

My pokemon brings all the nerds to the yard. And they're like, "You wanna trade cards?" Damn right, I wanna trade cards. I'll trade this, but not my charizard.

The point i think Sony are trying to make which owners of other consoles seem to keep missing is that PS3 games are on BluRay discs, not DVDs or CDs. Sony aren't just saying "ooh look, it plays HD movies on Blu-Ray", they are saying all our games are on the BlueRay disc memory medium.

there are intrinsic advantages to this beyond the simple "movies are on BluRay Discs too". games can be larger and therefore more expansive, have te potential to include more detail for graphics and sound, something Sony is keen to point out as an essential element of the PS3 and it's software.

eh, probably a flame bait thread based on that second paragraph as well as the title.

I am from the UK, I think he is talking about Uncharted: Drake's fortune, from the makers of Jak and Daxter. I saw the add on tuesday and it showed loads of gameplay, basically the whole add was gameplay with a guy talking over it saying stuff like, "a computer that is one step ahead", "on blu ray disc" etc.

Its a really good ad and makes you want the game.

Yea, the PS3 ads have improved so much now. I've actually been happy to watch them rather than sit there tilting my head.

I don't know if it's been showing anywhere else, but the Ratchet and Clank christmas ad has been pretty cool. I think it's kind of like that one Gears of War advertisement (which was also cool).
