Forums - Sony - 60% of prospective Move owners Nintendo converts?

Wow its not every day that Sony pretty much claims to be taking over Nintendo's market. But they are doing so in a big way claiming that 60% of the people planning to or probubly buying Move are actually Nintendo consumers. Infact 60% of people planning on buying Move actually already own Nintendo Wii's.

This means that 60% of Move's market are unhappy Nintendo fans looking to get their Move on. Now I wouldn't have believed it myself as a Nintendo fan but the data comes from Ipsos OTX's GamePlan Insights group. Ipsos is a reliable and dignified company and its research is usually spot on. They got the information by conducting a poll of prospective Move owners, coming to the conclusion a majority of them are actually Wii owning Nintendo gamers.

So the question is, why would 60% of Move's buyers want to buy Move when they have Wii? Are these gamers actually converting to Sony, or are they going to play both? Is this accurate do you think Sony is actually stealing that many Wii owners from Nintendo? Do you think both Sony and Nintendo stand to benefit from this or is it lop sided.

What do you think about the announcement?

Ipsos conducted a poll of prospective Move owners, realizing 60% of prospective Move owners already owned Wii's. I myself am not buying Move and am a Nintendo owner. But that means I don't count the poll was looking at prospective Move owners not the Nintendo fans not buying Move.

Do you have a link or something, it's hard to comment without any source material.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

And probably 80% plus of them are PS2 or DS owners and consumers, which makes sense considering huge install bases of these consoles (on top of that 100% of them are PC owners and consumers as well =) ). Total volume of Move sold is what actually important, I'd be surprised if Sony was able to sold Move to completely new consumers, who do not own or haven't owned a console for a good amount of time or ever. That's exactly what eating up potential Wii userbase is.

Well I have a Wii and a PS3 and if I should buy Move (not sure yet), I'd still play Wii.

Yeah, right.

Above: still the best game of the year.
