Anyone here check it out last night on AMC? I'm not an ultra mega zombie fanboy or anything but my wife and 2 sons are so I'm exposed to a lot of zombie shit. I have to say that what I watched last night was awesome. I saw the coming attractions for it and heard shit like "written/produced"  and " Shawshank Redemtion/Terminator" and I was sold on checking it out. It's not what I'd expect to see on regular tv and I imagine it will do well since zombies are becoming ever popular. I'm not gonna get into a whole lot about it but here is a link if you are interested. http://www.amctv.com/originals/The-Walking-Dead/about-the-show

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

Why not?

For the most part I'm not a big zombie fan, although I do really enjoy the 28 Days/Weeks Later movies. I really enjoyed the show last night, I think the important distinction for me, is when a movie or (show in this case) uses the zombie/apocalypse setting to make social commentary instead of just mindless thrills. I thought the acting was solid, especially from the main character. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the season, although I wish there were more than just 5 more episodes in the first season. Oh well, its ratings last night were great for AMC, more than doubling what Mad Men and Breaking Bad usually get (AMC's two previous biggest profile shows), so I'm sure there will still be plenty of episodes to come.

It was pretty good, Maybe a little 'over stylized' but that can be said of all AMC's shows.

Yeah dude, I'm with you 100%. It's that apocalyptic setting that appeals to me and gets me thinking about how delicate things are as well as what the hell I would do if I were in the same situation as the characters. Every time I loose power to a storm or something things get put into perspective real quickly. There are some realistic things that could happen to create the chaos you see in these types of movie/shows too. Meteors, volcanoes, EMP attack, hell, even ......aliens lol, just to name a few.

Is the show a serious tone, like "I Am Legend" and "28 Days Later/Weeks", or does it have a sense of comic relief as well, like "Zombieland". Course their is a third category, is it like Resident Evil where people have super powers and is the worst thing ever created by man.

Curious where this show stands..

No comedy, all serious.
