dude your comment said "everything they did wrong with the ps3" as if ps3 games quality have suffered since then.......which it didn't, so what WORNG are you talking about, maybe DIFFERENT was the word you were looking for, but different wouldn't have been a negitive thing to say now would it.  hence my first comment.

Anyone that doesn't think that PS3 was a disaster console launch fr sony is fooling themselves. Yes, sony quickly fixed or tried to fix the issues with the PS3 and today PS3 is a wonderful console, but they lost a lot of ground due to high price, lack of worthwhile games (at launch and for a year or two after) and difficulty to program for the console.

In 5 years when people post a thread on this forum asking "How come PS3 wasn't as successful as PS1 and PS2 sales wise?"...the answer will be...cause of high launch price, difficulty to program for, and lack of must play games for a couple of years. The same reasons why pS1 was so wonderful...

what dafuck does that have to do with what made the ps1 so special lol

and any true playstation fan will tell you, sales were the LAST thing that made those console so awesome, and by the end of this gen when people will look at overall sales, I don't think that question will even come up.....

Actually console sales were the reason why PS1 was special. Without console sales, 3rd parties wouldn't have flocked to the PS1 and sony would have been royally screwed as they had the weakest 1st party support at the time out of the 3 consoles available.

Why is it about the PS3 now though?

Because some oversentive fanboy derailed the topic by taking offense to Disolitude's post.

EDIT: This post has been moderated. -d1

Guys. Topic track. THAT WAY! Let's get back to the PS1, and not make this about the PS3.

The Gameboy had great battery life.  That made it a better value than the Turbo Express and the Sega Game Gear.  These were portable consoles which are actually competing with home consoles because they share the same market.  Also, Christianity is the best religion and abortion may or may not be wrong.  Alan Wake is the best game of the year.  It's really scary.  And the proper way of pronouncing the letter 'Z' is "zee", not "zed".  (I'm like the Joker.  I'm an agent of anarchy.)  And I do believe that Dreamworks will be better than Pixar when it's all said and done.

I don't know why we got one. I was about 6 or 7 when we got ours.

My dad bought a 3DO then when he realized how shitty it was we got Playstation.

I just think its better cause of games like Crash Bandicoot and Gran Turismo. I'd take a partnership with Naughy Dog any day than with Rare. Rare was good back then but now they suck ass; Naughty Dog is as good as ever, if not better.

Well i would say that PS1 had a lot more game to actually make you want to buy it. I had a nintendo, SNES and already knew i was going to buy the N64 but after i bought it there were only Mario, Zelda and Metroid as interesting game and there were a bit childish for some who started playing nintendo and see other games like Resident Evil, Gran Theft Auto, Gran Turismo, Need for Speed, Final Fantasy, Syphon Filter, Metal Gear Solid, the library was huge and a lot of variety. PS1 make the next step as putting game that were more like movies to us. And it will continue to dominate with the PS2 until Nintendo took the next step with the motion control and game not just for the kid but for the whole family

-More 3rd party support meant more games and more variety, also the N64 games were too expansive, plus PS was much better advertised.
