hmm..well if this were true I have to ask; how did she get this information? i did a quick internet search and there is no word on this anywhere. not on any forum or gaming site. no where. do you really think that if sony was coming out with a new sku some target goon is going to be the first to know? I mean c'mon, rumors of the the 40g models circulated the internet months before it's release.

I don't believe it's true in the least. she's full of poop.

/\ Maybe she is, but based on her knowledge and her understanding what BC is, I was duped. Since it is just software, I do think it's possible.

We'll see soon if she was lying to me or not ...

Thanks to kenobi after I got him to ban my old account (dallas) after someone hacked into it and being ok with me coming back under a slightly different username.  I appreciate our communication in the PMs.  Also I want to give a big thank you to vgchartz for being one of the cooler websites around.

Well, you will be always be able, i think, to sell 40GB without BC for some 300-350$. And get BC version.
Not all people care about BC.
But well, if you care about BC, you should have already bought 80GB or 60GB when it was available.

If you want cheaper PS3 NOW, get 40GB without BC, if you want PS3 later, buy cheaper 40GB with BC next year.

I repeat: NOT ALL PEOPLE care about BC.

Right now I think the PS3 40GB version is selling well. So I really don't think BC matters anymore, considering the PS3 is going to bring out countless software in 2008 and 2009.

I wouldn't take anything a store employee says to heart. During the time when the PSP slim was releasing in America, every GS and EB games was telling me (when I'd call) that it was coming out at christmas. Even after it came out, and was on their shelves.
