I don't doubt it brought in such profit, I just want to know how big the PC fanbase is, that's all.

Last I knew before XIV came out they said it was in the 400,000-600,000 area.

Not bad.

It may seem like I was calling bullshit, but I just wanted to know the amount of players. Thanks.

Oh the userbase is definitely quite well. When I play sometimes I find that there are too many people on. It definitely is a great game, if you were looking to play you definitely should give it a shot.

To be honest, I take anything you say about FFXI with a grain of salt like I take anything a Sony fanboy might say about Microsoft with a grain of salt.

Nothing against you, but I just know you have a giant hard on for FFXI.  That's fine because FFXI is a fine game, but you're waaaaaaaaaaaaaay biased towards it.  When someone says WoW lacks in comparison to FFXI in every aspect I trust you telling anything about FFXI about as much as a Sony fanboy telling me that Halo sucks.

It's cool to like a game and strongly support it, but comments like that just destroy credibility.

I read your post about that, I never answered but I find it odd that you think WoW has a better quest system. For me XI trumps it in a no-contest.

Also Halo 2 sucks, but Halo 3 rocks. :)

The quest system I suppose it could be argued either way since some people might like to be led by the hand (WoW) while others like spending hours figuring it out for themselves (FFXI) but in the end, I generally like to go with simplicity.  FFXI just leaves players a little too much in the dark about their quests.

I don't think quest goals have to be blatently shown to you like WoW but FFXI gives you the absolute minimum hints in their quests.  I can't think of any quest where I didn't look at Allakhazam and for most of those I'm happy with the hours and hours I saved myself from trying to figure that out. Hell, there were some quests while even having the guide open it still took a lot of time trying to figure out where exactly to go.

If it's a puzzle quest then there is fun in figuring that out, but for the most part quests in FFXI aren't supposed to be puzzles (or they aren't good puzzles when they are).

Can you honestly tell me that WoW has a better story than XI? I have seen WoWs story telling. I shudder to think of it. Wings of the Goddess could be made into a standalone FF game, it's that good.

I feel similarly about your opinion for any single player FF since FF6

Because your waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay biased towards FF6. (then again its so awesome I don't blame you lol).

The story?  God no, FFXI easily wins in regards to story, but that is very different than quests.

In general quests structure (as in the fetch me 6 sticks type quests), WoW wins.  In the overall story and how it's told to the player, FFXI wins.

Even the story in the basic quests trumps WoW.

For me the game still ok..but i think it wouldn't cater enough to western tastes..so i personally hope they give it 2 months free till the end of 2010 to totally fix their issues..

That's not really it, there's actually a good game under the massive problems, it's the game has an awful UI, a terrible economy system, and just really odd/bad design choices.  The extra 30 days may seem like a glimmer of hope until you realize people have been complaining about these very same issues since the closed and open betas yet nothing was done.

I was optimistic during the open beta but not-so-much anymore.
