In case you missed it Nintendo just announced the price of the 3ds and it is quite expensive. I think the system will be great but is the price to high for a handheld system?

Japan, Japan, Japan.
Let's wait until we find out the official NA price before going on wild tangents and speculation.

I think you'll need these if you want to get there.
I would guess more along the lines of either $250 or $199 and not a perfect conversion of the price for Japan.
Kinect pricing denials all over again? It'll be $250-300.
Full disclosure: I was one of those in Kinect pricing denial. :(
It won't be $299. $249 is the ceiling now, though I'm hoping they go lower (like $229 or $199).
Is gaming in Japan really that much more expensive than in America? If the system launches for 299 in America would you buy it? If it launches for 249 and the PSP2 does the same which will you buy?
$199 is stretching it. I can't fathom them being able to do that, but of course $299 would be a disaster and im sure they understand that. Japan prices have been inflated for quite some time, so $249 is the most likely. Still a bit pricey imo for something that for the most part is only a gaming machine. I doubt ill buy it before the first price drop, definitely won't be using it for actual mobile out of the house gaming.
Prices in GENERAL in Japan are way higher due to their cost of living. At most it'll be $250 and Ninty will probably try to have at LEAST one big game for its launch such as Kid Icarus, Mario Kart, or even just Ocarina of Time. A smart thing to do would be to package it with a chunk of DSI points (like $10 worth) to spend on DSiWare or the VC they've made for the 3DS.
It will definitely not be 299$ in the USA.
