@MaxwellGT  I didnt mention SNES/GENS cause I didnt know who sold better and there so close to power and price??? that I didnt think it was worth mentioning

Game Gear was portable and more expensive just cause it was huge didnt mean you couldnt carry it. I carried it fine in my pocket (just had to make sure nothing else was in there)

I dont know about library for DS cause half those games suck but there are alot of them I could see how someone who is not really a gamer would get bamboolzed by all those titles. PSP is still more expensive

PS1 DC did not go against PS2. Sega cut support for that system b4 Sony even dropped PS2. so my original statement stands PS1>DC.  as for library, same thing with DS it had way more titles than N64 cheaper too. ok so maybe # of games have something to do with it BTW who were these idiots who think PS2 was more powerful than GC???? what are they on? Im not biased I had both systems but the multiplats ran better on GC FACT Sonic Heroes Soul Calibur 2 King Kong Ultimate Spider-man. Etc.

People have always said that the next leap won't be as big as the last one etc etc but they always turn out wrong. What I hope happens is that Sony/Microsoft go for small leaps and Nintendo go for beastly hardware, I can just imagine the roll reversals now lol. Probably won't happen tho...


The Wii itself was a big leap in another way, power and engines are just one side of the coin, the issue with "huge" leaps in power is the rising development costs for publishers, developers, and even shown with the PS3 it hurts console makers as well.  Every gen there is a leap, but some overstep their bounds by doing it too soon cause of technology limits, which would be the case for many developers this gen and has killed some consoles/console makers in the past, 3DO, Dreamcast, Saturn, etc.


hey I just want nintendo to have the most powerful console next gen so all the sony fans can go back to touting gameplay and the ninty fans can tout graphics I know it's probably not gonna happen but it would be funny. 


Eh last gen was a lot of the same as well, hell not sure if you were here for some of the debates but a lot of people still believed the PS2 was more powerful than the Gamecube, sure it wasn't true, but all sides embellish to prove their "side", purchase, or what have you as "right" it's just really lame I mean look at the PS3 and 360 fans fight over particle effects and little details, have you seen such pointless debates? 


I wasn't on here lol but I did hear some of the arguments. I have even heard someone try and argue that the PS2 was more powerful than the xbox lol...

Nice interview.Damn next gen makes me excited computers are already beastly and would be even more so.How long do you thing gen 8 will last 20 years?And yeah ahaha i would jump straight to nintendo if they upgraded their system to be on par with 8th generation consoles whenever that time for the console release is.

@zarx Dreamcast was weak compared to who???? when it was released the only one else on the market was N64 and PS1 and DC was more powerful than those 2, like I said Sega dropped support before PS2 came out.

It was my understanding that Saturn was more powerful than PS1. thats why some of the games ran better on it. Look at Capcom's versus series. YOu couldnt even switch on PS1. IF you have a link arguing otherwise I would love to see it, because im really interested.

lol you can't have two consoles in the same gen man. oh and the DC was discontinued after the PS2 launched by around 6 months.

but anyway I think my thread has been derailed enough for one day...

1 see my earlier post plus by that argument the 360 is in the 6th gen because it launched when only the PS2 and GCN were on the market. And see my last post PS2 was launched late 2000 DC was discontinued mid 2001.

2 like I said arguable arguable the Saturn was weaker in 3D but better at 2D, it's multi CPU architecture was hard to program for but did give it advantages in certain areas, but the fragmented limited RAM caused some problems. Like I said arguable.

omg this is insane, when will tech junkies be satisfied? dev costs are already killing so many devs, i don't even see that big of a need to go much further than this gen (PS360)

would it even feasable to make a next gen game unless it sold like 10 mil copies or they started charging more money for them? i don't want games to go down that route!

less games overall & they cost more & also killing devs = bad imo!!

@zarx yeah your right im getting my dates mixed up cause in the US they actually discontinued it earlier. PS2 was released later in US than in Japan. my bad, but that was hardly a fight, Sega threw in the towel right b4 PS2 came out. I was pissed becasue those damn cowards went out like punks and didnt even fight Sony. THey just gave up. Ninty didnt give up. The fanboy in me died that day

well to be fair SEGA didn't really have the money or the support to continue. They were hemorrhaging cash like nobodies business and after sinking reportedly $70 million into Shenmue which at the time was unheard of. After 3 years with 10 million consoles they didn't have much choice.
