Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony in 2011 is going to be hype

I was thinking, with all the long future releases, anybody cares for the games that are actually releasing this year? I mean everybody was super hyped for GT5, but now that its releasing just in 3 months nobody seem as interested.

Sony has too many games on track for next year.  Some will have to be pushed back to 2012, even if only for marketing purposes.  And Uncharted 3 and Starhawk have yet to be announced!

I can't see them releasing both Resistance and Ratchet next year.  Between the two, Resistance would be on track to finish it's 3 year dev cycle, so I'd expect to see that next year, but on the other hand, Ratchet seemed further along.  And would they want a third shooter in 2011?  Ratchet seems like the more logical choice between the two given its genre.  Or they may surprise us and release both.

Socom, Killzone, Infamous, and MotorStorm are on lock for next year.  The Last Guardian is probably a 2011 release as well, if only because of how long ago it was announced.

Uncharted 3 would normally seem logical next year, given the development time of Uncharted 2, but given all that's already been announced, the unannounced game seems the most likely to get pushed back.  On the other hand, most of the titles on lock for next year will release in the first half of the year.  Assuming Insomniac only releases one game next year, that'd leave Insomniac's other game and the Last Guardian to fill in the holiday line up.  So I guess Uncharted 3 would fit in nicely.  Or maybe they want to leave room for Agent over the holidays?

Twisted Metal I want to say is next year, given it's probable dev time among other factors, but with this line up I'm gonna say it'll be an early 2012 release.

Agent and Versus don't really affect much, since Sony's publishing neither.  We'll probably see both next year, though Versus only in Japan.

So, of the Sony published titles, I'm calling...

First half of 2011:

Socom
Killzone
MotorStorm
Infamous

Second half of 2011:

Resistance OR Ratchet
The Last Guardian
Uncharted 3

2012:

Resistance OR Ratchet
Twisted Metal
Starhawk
Quantic Dream's next game

...with the possibility of both Insomniac titles hitting in 2011 and Uncharted 3 getting pushed to 2012.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
