Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii Motion Plus, 1 year later

my thought is that Nintendo is swimming in that big ass pool of 20 dollar bills.

Plus it's not as though every game with paid DLC isn't what kylie claims about SW.

Stupid example, DLC is optional.  Motion plus to play new Zelda is not.

On the other hand, DLC is game specific (unless you can use Oblivion's horse armor for Fallout 3 somehow), while this mandatory thing at least works for multiple games, and Nintendo of course will not just stop at WSR and Zelda, and third parties will not stop at just Red Steel 2.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

It doesn't matter if DLC is game specific (which it isn't always, see Street Fighter IV, LBP and probably others) because IT IS NOT REQUiRED.

I can buy 50 games with DLC, how much extra do I need pay just to run those games?  None.  Yet here is Zelda requiring I fork out £15 just to run this single game I already payed for in full.

Again, it will not be just a single game. That thing will work with further games. Plus in all likelyhood it will come with one bundled (perhaps not all of them in case you already have one), so you won't have to pay as much, and it provides you with one anyway.

Maybe the lackluster Motion Plus support just shows, that 1:1 Motion recognition is just not necessary for many games.

Wonderful! So Nintendo is totally happy to leave it to Sony and PS Move! I must dedicate again this song to Sony and Nintendo buddy buddies

Zelda is the only game I want to play that REQUIRES motion plus, so it is a single game.  If it gets bundled it is not going to cost the same as a stand alone game.

At least when the N64 did this with Donkey Kong the bundle didn't add any price to the game, I doubt Nintendo will do the same now.

Okay, so Nintendo can't make it mandatory for the sake of the few people that only want it for that one game, even though the entire purpose of using it for that game is to show off how well it can work...

Plus it's about the only major upcoming M game at the moment, but again, there will be more. If they don't please you, it's not Nintendo's fault your tastes run counter to their games.

BTW, I hope you feel the same about Move and Kinect only games. If you do, then okay, but I still say all of them still have a ways to go.

@Kyliedog

You could pick up Red Steel 2 for the same price as RS2 with Mplus at launch. Red Steel 2 is currently £18 with a Mplus included on amazon. Buy it and trade it for Zelda when it releases or take out the Mplus and resell the game. Do you not know anybody who has recently bought a Wii who is bored of Wii Sports Resort?

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

I like the add-on, and I've played a fair few games with it, but I've always maintained that a pursuit for true 1:1 control by all gaming companies is utterly futile. Player skill prohibits it too much, so we must instead settle for something incredibly close to 1:1 to truly enjoy it. For example, if somebody released a tennis game with true 1:1 control that was exactly like real tennis, how the hell would anyone get any good at it in a short space of time? Tennis takes years to master, I don't want to spend that long trying to get good at a game, as I'd get bored after a week at the most. It'd be the same for many types of games in many types of genres as well, and the market for sequels would disappear instantly (so EA would say goodbye to the money spinning annual updates of their sports franchises). So gaming companies can talk up the pursuit for 'true 1:1' control with their 'my 1:1 control is better than your 1:1 control' nonsense, but the reality of the situation will be something completely different.

Oh, and I picked up Red Steel 2 with the motionplus for £1 less than the standalone game was at the time, but I don't expect little bits of info like that to be registered by those obstreperous and belligerent types...

Support's been awful to be honest.  3rd parties being asleep at the wheel I can understand, that pretty much typifies them this gen, but WTF is up with Nintendo?  We should've had both FlingSmash and Reginliev by now, in all markets.  Why the hell isn't Genius Sonority doing DQ Swords 2?  Where's my 1:1 Project HAMMER NST?

when i first heard of it i thought itd be essential

shockingly i dont have it tho, and havent felt i needed it yet

all i played this year has been sh:sm, monster hunter tri, madworld, nmh2, and cod mwr

and i havent noticed the lack of it.

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.
