I'm watching the new Avengers cartoon on Disney and it's pretty good.  One thing, though:  When did it become accepted that Nick Fury is black (outside of the comics)?  I mean, I'm black and I appreciate the strong black role model but WTF?  The Green Lantern was black but it was a different guy (John Stewart) bearing the name.  Captain America was black but it was his partner Falcon wearing the uniform.  Nick Fury just turned black.  Can you just do that!?   Is it legal?

It's called "Immersive Affirmative Action". It's a crazy offshoot of the Super Soldier Program and Nick Fury volunteered to be the first patient.

I'm sure you probably know this, but Nick Fury is black in the comics too... well the Ultimate Comics.

Everyone likes Black Nick Fury better now because people still like Sam Jackson and Hasslehoff is washed up.

Yeah, I know Ultimate Nick Fury.  He's the root of all of this.  But you don't see Ultimate Ironman, Ultimate Captain America, or Ultimate Wolverine being accepted as the mainstream version.  The comics (the 616 Universe Marvel) are the gospel in my opinion.  Ultimate Marvel is basically a huge "What If" story.  They have some cool twists (like Gal Ak Tus) but the mainstream Marvel--the one that most people are going to know (Movies, Cartoons) should try to follow the "real Marvel" Universe as much as possible.  I don't see the point of making Fury a black guy just for the hell of it.

I like Sam Jackson as much as the next guy but he's no "Shaft", "Jedi", or "Nick Fury".  I'm tired of this motha' fuckin' snake in these motha' fuckin' parts!

The Spiderman movies kinda feel like Ultimate Spiderman if you ask me.  I mean, I may be wrong but I thought regular Spiderman started off in college.

^Nope.  High School.

Black Nick Fury became mainstream, because the mayority of the original comics didn't have enough racial diversity and the TV and Movies have to have it, its easier to use another timeline with an important but somewhat secondary character than to make Iron Man, Spiderman or other from a diferent race.

Next thing you know, Billy D Williams is gonna be playing Harvey Dent in a Batman mov.......you know, I'm just gonna shut up, now.

Honestly, I don't care that they change some characters' races. In some cases, it makes sense. Making Kingpin black in the Daredevil movie made complete sense. Not only is it more relevant to modern America but Michael Clark Duncan is just about the only human being on the planet large enough to play the character.

Yeah, I was going to say, Michael Clark Duncan played a BAD ASS Kingpin.

It's too bad everyone else in the movie sucked.

Yep, pretty much. As usual with comic movies (until recently, that is), they tried to do too much and the movie just sucked. Elektra, Bullseye, and Kingpin in the same movie?
