People are making too much of a fuss about these 360 sales. Sure they are ultra high outselling the PS3/Wii combined but I thought the goal was to bring in new customers. Look at the software charts for when the PS3 Slim came in and compare those to the software that the 360 is producing now. It's all about software and if MS is only selling 360's to consumers who already have an xbox then what is the point? The 360 outsold the the PS3 by 2.5-1, but how many of those were new customers? How many of those bought new games? The answer, very little considering the PS3's software actually outsold the 360's software. The only thing that the 360s is doing is prolonging PS3's venture to 2nd place (if it ever does of course).

The 360 sales are pretty amazing, didn't expect demand to be quite that high.

As for the Wii is doomed talk, people are overreacting. The Wii got into this same slump in 2009, this one was more or less expected. The main driver has been NSMB Wii, a game released 8 months ago, and it hasn't done its job so well in Europe / Others (sales have been low for a while). While it has done much better in America, sales have finally dropped off this month (it was twice as high weekly in June). We'll be seeing it down YoY for a while, now. The HD consoles being up only makes it look worse than it is - when the holidays come, it'll become clear again who the market leader is.

The Wii just needs more killer software, and plenty is coming this holiday. Nintendo already has pretty low expectations for the console, so I highly doubt they'd lower the price during this fiscal year.

Really, the only problematic region is Others. I'm not sure how they'll spark interest there, because if an old school 2D Mario can't do the trick, there's no way Donkey Kong, Goldeneye or Kirby would. That Vitality Sensor game needs to be their savior there.

It's so funny to see certaing group coming in here saying things like "Oh it's selling to old owners, where are the new ones?" or "look at the software sales, they are lower"

It's amazing how they can change there view just to try feel better about the sales of a videogame console

First the console was selling bad... then "it wasnt making any profit" (according to some uninformed people) then software is not that great.... then what? Not enough extra controllers? People not suscribing to live? New owners instead of old owners buying their 3rd console?

I love how everyone is going bonkers over Wii sales. Did you guys forget that Xbox 360 JUST came out with a console redesign? In fact, Wii is the only console WITHOUT a redesign this gen, and it is still holding its own, and beating the PS3. Plus I believe it is still outpacing the PS2.

Once the dust settles, Wii will be in the lead again every week. Sony and MS are sort of "cheating" by releasing the same console twice. Nintendo just needs to weather the storm until the holiday season, where they shine best. With the usual rise in holiday sales coupled with the strength of Wii Party, DKC, and Kirby, The Wii sales then will surely make up for any lost ground here. I predict a good 3.5 million consoles sold in November in the US, won't make it near 4.3 again but still solid regardless.

Releasing a new console now or even next year would be far too premature, as the Wii still has 2 or 3 good holiday seasons left in it. The Wii will still outlast the HD consoles, mark my words. Years from now, it'll be selling like the PS2 has been the past few years.

Are you kidding me?  Almost every thread seems to decend into maddness at the moment... or maybe it's just me.

The forums were quiet when everything was flat and staid - they seem a lot livelier now to me.

Yeah, we all have our likes and dislikes.

Believe me, you're not the only one.

But I think it's funny right now. On the one hand 360 fans who exaggerate and on the other hand Wii/PS3 fans who try to make sales look bad. I think we should just see it how it is: the 360s has been released only a few weeks ago in US and last week in Others.
