If we're talking big name series then Pikmin definitely is the last one Nintendo has made.

The point was that Nintendo invests regularly in huge numbers of new IPs and pretending otherwise is ridiculously off-base.

I have a question. OP mention, that Ninty basically doesn't have new any new IP's for 3DS...hell in General...But when they do create ones, i.e: Fling Smash, Wii Series, Steel Diver, Xenoblade, etc...How come they are over looked?

...Is it because they are IP's no one wants?

Due to how the industry has matured, it is now hard to suddenly announce a new IP into the market, and expect it to be something someone wants.  Look, for example, how many people are yelling for an update to Final Fantasy VII, for example.  What excites people now is to play what they know in new ways that excite.

This is way I ask the good peeps of VG! Thank you.

Welcome (I think).  It is amazing how people say they want new, but when the old stuff comes out, people jump all over it.  The industry is now driven to create franchises that it can milk as cashcows.  Outside of Indie games, I don't see companies funding projects to be done, unless they can produce a sequel for it later on.

Hahaha no need for I think, thanks. I've been curious for a while cause one thing that runs like loose stools on the interweb is that Nintendo doesn't make any new IP's. When you see they have plain as day.

...Yeah I read somewhere that Activision is only going to work with IP's that can general good selling sequels. It's just crazy to me the double talk that some fans, "journalists" and CEO's do in the gaming industry.

My biggest peeve with both Sony & Microsoft incorporating motion controls into there consoles is the double talk that they use. Just be honest about it, going 100% core doesn't make as much money as having a diverse platform. /rant

The Interweb is about overreaction, this is what makes it great!

...Imagine how boring the interweb would be if everyone thought logically?

not going to get into this argument, but the 3DS has a touchscreen and the joystick so argument pointless?

He's objectively, quantifiably wrong, and so are you if you agree with him. Nintendo has gotten mroe hate than any company this gen. If you are of the opinion that people shoud be able to hate on a company without baclash.... well, that's rather one-sided, now innit?

So, just because Nintendo got hated in the past, we can't criticize it now? And I'm honestly not understanding how Nintendo is the victim. They've made tons of money with the console that everyone criticized, while Sony had huge losses with the console that everyone said it would be the future of gaming. So as you can see, words meant nothing, or better yet, words did nothing.

THat is a ridiculous notion. People hav criticized Nintendo since the beginning, and continue to do so now. here is no current climate in which they can't be criticized. But if you don't want people to disagree with you, your only opiton is to not say anything. This is true in reference to discourse surrounding all companies.

I was being sarcastic on that bold part. But anyway... I'm not understanding this conversation. Nintendo deserves to be criticized, because they aren't perfect, and have many flaws to be winning this generation (IMO). I'm not saying Sony and MS are perfect just so we're clear. Read that puppies analogy lol

It doesn't matter that we hate on X company, except if you're an extremly influential person. Most casual gamers don't even come to the internet to check consoles, they're impulse buyers. What difference does it make that we laugh at Kinect? MS won't lose money, and besides that, any publicity is good publicity.

Oh, and if I say my opinion, then I'm obviously not expecting everyone to agree with me. But when other people don't even care to understand what I'm trying to say (not refering to you) then I just won't care. Same thing to the OP - "This guy isn't loving Nintendo... OMFGOSH HATER TROLL DIE!"

I haven't seen people attack the OP, rather what he stated, which can summarized as: "Nintendo is never criticized". Which is very, very, very wrong. Do I actually have to go look in forums or sites where Nintendo has been criticized and post hundreds of links that will prove this? I hope not. You've probably seen it too. I've seen people complain about Wind Wakers art style, not enough core games, not enough new IPs, not enough sequels to old games, etc.

We have heard the "Nintendo is dooomed" song for so many times it's no longer funny. Look at this video for example, look at the very end.

Has Nintendo made mistakes? Yes. Are people allowed to not like Nintendo? Yes. But to state that Nintendo is never criticized, that's just false.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I see no reason for this thread. Nintendo gets a little love, because they showed things that excite people(mostly referring to journalists and forum goers here) and all of a sudden Nintendo is loved too much. The only point I see in this thread is that its trying to make people angry.

The "Nintendo is doomed" has been sung for over 20 years and look at them? Still a strong company. Nintendo never gives up . It is always been about gaming. That's they're first priority. If they went by with everything the gaming media and people tell them, they would have been bankrupt already.Sure they've made mistakes in the Ps1 and Ps2 era but everyone learns from them. They never give up and because of this i'm proud to be their fan.

That Genesis vs Nintendo competition reminds me of the Sony vs Nintendo competition today even though Nintendo doesn't see Sony as a threat anymore.

So you agree with "Nintendo is never criticized"?

And it's for children under 7 year should not use the 3D aspects, because their eye muscles aren't fully developed, this warning is also given out at 3D movies. So yeah you don't look in the right places.

I never accused of hating Nintendo.

At the moment, yes, Nintendo is "untouchable" on FORUMS... except on Sony/MS Defense Forse. I never said "never" tho. And by this I mean after the E3 and by the gaming community... About 3D, I guess children can turn it off right, so no harm done in there.

So how many threads must I find to disprove this? 10, 50, 100, 1000?

I'd also like to say: I consider Kid Icarus, for all intents and purposes, a new IP. It has nothing besides (nominally, at that) a few main characters in common with the originals.

Crusty VGchartz old timer who sporadically returns & posts. Let's debate nebulous shit and expand our perpectives. Or whatever.

So how is Nintendo to blame for that? Big Brain Academy, and Endless Ocean both broke a million, and have sequels. Hotel Dusk, Elite Beat Agents, and a couple others  got sequels, and Xenoblade was just released so you have to give it time. Those names not sticking out as much as Mario, Zelda, and Metroid is hardly Nintendo's fault. Hell I'd say there isn't another first party brand name that comes close to not being completely over shadowed by Mario.
