Forums - Microsoft Discussion - 10 Misunderstandings Alan Wake Has About Americans

I'd add:

-that most rock stars that I know don't have a fully functioning stage in their back yards.  If they did, I'm pretty sure it would be a little less operable after that rock star was, I don't know, LIVING IN A NURSING HOME FOR YEARS!?!

-some of us CAN run for more than 6 seconds without gasping for air.  being chased by killer shadows tends to provide a motivational boost of energy.

-typewriter technology has progressed dramatically since 1937.  Even in a small town like the one I live in, we had electric typewriters since the 90's.  I hear one guy even has a computer!

-I know our gun control laws are a little lax, compared to other countries.  Still, I've only found pistols, shotguns, rifles and ammunition laying unattended in the open four times last month.  FOUR.  Give us some credit, here!

2. Mr. Wake spends roughly two weeks on the Olympic Peninsula without rain. I assure you this is an impossiblity. For further reading, please see Stephanie Meyer (Just kidding, we hate her too).

4. Though Western Washingtonians and especially Seattlies love coffee, we rarely leave 100 thermoses of it in the wilderness. When we do, we don't usually drink it afterwards.

8. While Washington drivers aren't the worst in the country, we don't crash our cars and block the roads when there is a looming threat we don't know about (unless you live near the retirement home in Issaquah).

Let me respond:

Regarding 2. According to Stephen King, "Both Rowling and Meyer, they're speaking directly to young people... The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can't write worth a darn. She's not very good.

Regarding 4. Those in the Pacific NW unless they are blue collar workers or go to work in the wee hours of the morning do not drink coffee out of a thermos. There is a reason why cities like Seattle, WA and Portland, OR have coffee shops on every other corner and it is more to do with the weather and free Wi-Fi.

Regarding 8. Having lived in Oregon for a decade before moving back down to California, I have to say Oregon drivers are the worst. If you drive up I-5 and pass towns like Roseburg, OR, you will inevitably come across an elderly individual driving 30-40 mph in a 65 mph zone.

I like the Heavy Rain ones more, but not having played Alan Wake yet (I have bought it) doesn't help my understanding
