Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Should Nintendo outsource more to meet demand?

Alright since the GameCube era Nintendo has been growing at an unprecedented rate. Creating new IP's and franchises as they go. But as they produce more and more new properties and try to revive older ones they are slowly neglecting more and more of their core franchises. Perfect examples include Donkey Kong , StarFox , Kirby , PilotWings, WaveRace, F-Zero then theirs all the older unused properties like StarTropics, Kid Icarus , Ice Climbers. Gamers have been waiting along time to see these franchises rebooted.

Their is so much demand for these franchises , demand Nintendo alone cannot meet. During the GameCube era Nintendo outsourced development of core IP's to Hudson, Capcom, NamcoBandai , Paon , Kuju...etc...etc... I know I for one was satisfied with Donkey Konga, Mario Party ,LOZ:MinishCap , StarFox Assualt and BattalionWars. Would you like to see Nintendo outsource more IP's to third party publishers or developers. Nintendo has been liscensing Nintendo properties since the N64 days wouldn't it be nice if they did some more.

I know I myself wouldn't mind seeing another Namco made StarFox title. Or how about a Capcom Donkey Kong. Or Why not a Sora made Kirby title for 3DS. I wouldn't mind Nintendo outsourcing franchises rather then simply neglecting them.

Would you rather see Nintendo not meet demand and alot of these franchises simply die, or would you rather see Nintendo outsource some liscenses to third parties and see sequels to some of your favorite games?

Well we are getting Other M and I'm sure there's a few more being revealed at E3.

Nintendo should outsource, and hire me as one of their second parties. :p

hmmm, that's a dangerous thing. Might affect quality.

Its not the quantity but the quality. I'm tired of games with no repalabiity whatsoever that you finish once and then off to the bargain bin. I remember i used to buy a game that would last me years , nowadays it lasts a few hours and Nintendo is at fault here too . Example; I must have played through Mario 64 at least 6 times, Sunshine and both mario galaxy 1 & 2 just played once and I was done. On the other hand I still play Wii sports and mario kart when mates are around even after years! Metroid prime finished it at least 3/4 times, the 2&3 just once, F zero X i played to infinity as well as starfox 64! Goldeneye don't even get me started, played it too much! Fire emblem 10 ditto! Ocarina of time i was taking sick off work for that damn thing!

I can go on forever but my point is there is too much content being recycled , the same shit over and over again even from nintendo and I'm having enough of it. So the answer to you question is NO, we don't need the same things over  and over again. We need something NEW from whoever it might be to bring the magic back.

Should Nintendo outsource more to meet demand? YES

Why? Iwata himself said he wishes to do so. The outsourcing is not limited to hardware either. Software droughts are Nintendo's worst nightmare, so believe this as a reality rather than a possibility.

Technically, they are outsourcing.  A lot.  More than half their games now are being made by Second Parties or Studios they recently bought.

But as for letting go of projects and just letting third parties make them, that's the one thing they should NOT do.  Remember, they did that on the GameCube.  And all that led to was long delays and a mixture of good and bad titles.  Sure, the Capcom Zelda games were pretty good...but the Namco Star Fox and F-Zero games weren't so much.

SaviorX already beat me to it. Iwata himself said they plan to use other teams to help make their games. Other M and The Last Story are two examples.

It was a beautiful game with insanely fun gameplay mechanics.

....that had a horrible presentation and some of the worst AI in a racer.

Trust me, I TRIED to like the game.  I've gone back and tried to play it multiple times.  It suffers from many of the same problems as Mario Kart Wii.  Ruthless AI and spikes in difficulty that even veterans of the series would get frustrated over.

A game is no longer fun when you're replaying the same race 50 times just so you can memorize the track and beat the AI which never makes a mistake.  And that's on NORMAL.
