GTA4 was and is one of the best games of this gen and it deserved the 10's it recevied.  Most of the negativity after the game was released came from people who allowed their console preference to affect their judgment on the quality of the game.

some people say it was to realistic. some people say they liked the Sanandreas formatt and 4 went to far to the left. my brother is a big GTA fan. and while he doesn't like GTA4 he still says its a good game. and as for me. i don't like flying out the windsheild  when i hit the breaks going 2miles an hour. long live Sanandreas

I still believe GTA4 is  a 10/10 game. Now that many of us have played it than of course it doesn't have to same wow factor. On a technical level it is still very impressive and amazing game to me. This is the same thing when people ask if Super Mario  64 is still an amazing game, well of course it doesn't seem as  good as some new Super Mario stuff. In time games get better and that why we don't review games a year later then their release date.

Well the 360 magazine I read, has kept the score but moved it out of top spot in their best games to buy section. Due to so many readers writing in cursing them for it. 

It's the only 100 they gave so far and it's now 3rd in the list. LOL. Everyone in the mag except the original reviewer wishes it was given 90. 

I thought it was a pretty good game, but no 10, and I felt past GTAs were better.  I'd give it an 8.5-8.8.

Sometimes I do come off as a bit anti-GTA I suppose, mainly because the people that claim anybody that doesn't think it's a 10 is just a hater annoy the hell out of me.

bc it sold its soul from PS to M$....... lots of riding on it from every reviewer in life.  bad review = lose readers ... good review = yippie

I've always hated GTA. The games never appealed to me. I hated the combat, story, settings, everything. GTA4 was the best in my opinion, but I'd still only give it a 7/10.

Red Dead Redemption on the other hand, is a perfect 10. Whether it's the setting or something else I really can't say, but it really is the first GTA-style game I thought was a 10.
