Forums - Gaming Discussion - Wii Blaster Coming?

Via Joystiq

With the announcement of Resident Evil 4 and Umbrella Chronicles for the Wii, coupled with the still unreleased Virtual Console titles Duck Hunt and Hogan's Alley, it's time to start asking, "Where's the Wii Zapper?" Gamestop has listed the Wii Blaster for $20 and what we strongly believe to be a placeholder date of May 1. Although, this isn't necessarily the most improbable date with the Resident Evil games expected to have a summer release.

The Gamestop listing has no photo of the what the Zapper Blaster looks like now. The last time we saw her she was behind glass at E3 with a "work in progress" sign. We're really looking forward to having a gun, these first-person shooters just don't feel natural with a Wiimote. Now give us a game that allows for dual wielding Blasters and that's a guaranteed $50 going to that publisher!

What do you think?

I see the joystick on there...replaces the nunchuck joystick I see...but then you lose all the motion capabilities of the nunchuck as well...so it's a win/lose I suppose. Using a wiimote gun like that would rock though. The coolest thing to have would be dual Wiimote zapper guns though, yes. That would own.

Think about it.  If it was just for single player only.  You would have two guns like that, with joysticks in both hands.  It could be like some trippy combination of dual analog controls and Wiimote controls...use the joysticks to move and look around, and then aim onscreen with dual wiimotes...that would rock so hard.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

I suspect Nintendo is awaiting E3 to reviel the Zapper's target launch date. I'd say chances are they will try to launch it around the same time as Resident Evil, maybe RedSteel2 will make it this year too. All I know is at the moment their aren't too many shooters availible for Wii so they must be waiting for the influx!

Definitely looking forward to this attachment and all the games that can go along with it!

Numbers are like people. Torture them enough and you can get them to say anything you want.

Dude.  Dual joysticks and dual pointers.  Why can none of the game devs come up with these ideas?  Sure you could only do two-player that way, but still, would be awesome.

If the new RE:UC was dual guns it would be a killer game!
