Forums - Sony Discussion - How the psp go got screwed

In my op the GO is "ahead of it's time". There will be a time when alot of our media will be digital due to the fact that it's cheaper and better for the enviroment but sony jumped the gun and ruined a perfectly good piece of hardware. I personally don't see why there is any problem about the price when there are cell phones for $600.00 and aren't worth the money spent on it. Anyway, I think sony should have made the psp-3000 model with a internal memory (4gigs) along with the memory stick to give the consumer a choice on the format they want. The psp go is for an age when all things are digital...this is not that age. Thoughts?

its not ahead of its time in any way, its a product no one really wanted and the sales reflect that.  And im sorry but those 600$ phones do everything the pspgo wishes it can do and more.  Ill take an Evo 4g  long before id take a pspgo.

I think the Go is a big ass experiment. What Sony will learn out of this experiment tho, is to be seen.

that is a possibility, never thought about that.

It's just a useless overpriced device with no backward support for the people that bought PSP games in the past. Maybe it's ahead of its time on the useless gadgets field.

"B....Bu........ But I'll give 10 free games!!!!!"

They are probably making a nice profit margin on every Go Sold + we have no real idea how well DDs are selling (or do we? I dont think so tho) which do not have the retail cut = more profit.   Very possible this ended up being a fairly cheap (or a bit profitable) experiment.  Would be nice to "try" things out that do not cost you money in the long run isnt it?

I hope they at least get 2 things from the PSPGo

1) The price was not to high, it was just to high for the time (middle of the PSPs life cycle is a bad time to "raise" the price on the handheld)

2) Customers still want the OPTION of physical media (IE next gen, do not make a new storage device, but use protected, Read-Only memcards)

They were on the right direction with more PS3 compatiblity, but I hope their next offering (new PSP model or a PSP2) has even more Ps3 connectivity.
