I don't want SE to pay more attention to DQ than FF. FF is better ; ; |
There's room for more than one series you know. Do you think Nintendo would want only Pokemon to do well, but not Fire Emblem, Advance Wars, Paper Mario, Mario & Luigi, etc? You can have more than one popular RPG at a time.
And currently, that's what they have been doing. Focusing all their attention on Final Fantasy (and Kingdom Hearts). The shoe can be put on the other foot you know and we can claim SquareEnix has tunnel vision, only thinking about Final Fantasy and ignoring Dragon Quest.

Buyers nowadays don't really care that much about Chrono Trigger. They'll have a better campaign than that, if only because it'll be targeted in a way more likely to attract kids. Not that it's aimed at kids, but in that it won't be off-putting to them

Chrono Trigger sold half a million in America on DS. Its certainly not forgotten. And it couldn't hurt to at least put that on their advertising.
As for targetting Dragon Quest towards kids, they've already been doing that. With the games localization filled with puns, accents, etc. And look how far that's gotten them.
They should be focusing on keeping the game the way it was in Japan. A game that targets all audiences, not just a specific demographic (such as kids). Try to emulate its success, not alter it to fit a demographic they think will like it in America. Even Pokemon is popular with people over the age of 18. And that's because it doesn't just target kids (and doesn't do stupid junk like 'accents').
