Forums - Sales Discussion - Alan Wake's Low European Debut (88K) - Will it make a profit?

I'd never think that Heavy Rain would sell more than Alan Wake.

I guess this is why Sony keeps hyping its games - namely GT5. If Alan Wake got more "leak videos" to the internet, or if they announced it sooner, it would have generated alot more fuss and therefor, more sales.

Your sig is disgusting ^^

Anyway a game like this would of been better of on the PS3.

The game deserved more in the EU. I personally thought it was going to sell more than 80k. I thought it was going to out sell HR. As much as I hate to say it I really do believe now that only shooters are the ones that sell good on 360. But then again I'm only judging on the FW of the EU. Maybe America could change things

Of course it won't make a profit. :/ Would have needed at least 1.5 million, maybe 2 million copies for it.

88k in two days is alright for a game with lack-lustre hype and marketing. My gut feeling is it'll hold up some decent legs, afterall it did release in May...

Nothing mind blowing but I'm just not convinced any new IP can launch to 150k+ in Europe in May. I'm kind of thinking Red Dead Redemption could blow that logic out the water too.

(Yes I know RDR isn't a new IP but no one buying the thing knows about the first one lol).

Who knows... But as I gamer I am really not concerned with this. Game is freekin awesome which is all that matters.

i have to disagree.

the game is awesome cant wait to play it soon, but the more commercial success means they can make more of the same.

i wanted to see 200k in EU and 300k+ in NA, going onto sell 1.5million+ WW

im beginging to think people only buy hyped games which is a shame.

100% agree, the most our favorite games sell, the more games in that line we gonna have, so yes sales are very important for us, the gamers.

Hopefully it will sell more over time. Games don't have to sell huge numbers first week to sell well in the long run. With reviews and word of mouth I'm sure it will do better over time.

This game will sell steadily forward.

Its slow sales are due it being a new IP, underwelming (but not bad) reviews, psychological thrillers/horrors tend to sell less (Ex. Dead Space), and this was a big week in gaming with a lot of variety (RDR, Split Second, PoP).

I also expect it to continue to sell well if the DLC keeps the quality up. For a new IP, it is off to a pretty good start. Dead Space, Uncharted, inFamous, and Crackdown had similar starts and are considered excellent IPs.

yeah and Mark Carson was right....Heavy Rain is uneven lol

It is just 2 days, 88K is good. With literally NO advertising. I really hope it does well partly for a sequel and partly for MS to take the chance on more new IPs.
