Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Isshu region's possible orgin is New York.

Now, it's been said this new region is greatly apart from the other 4, which were based off lands in Japan. This is likely the first region not based in Japan, but in America. The name of the city in Isshu is Hiun, which I believe is based off New York City. Below are some suggestions, not considered concrete proof.

The ships are likely based off the Staten Island Ferry

The bridge is likely based off the Brooklyn Bridge

The two skyscrapers in the far back are likely based off the Empire and Chrysler buildings.

The area of the city that was revealed in the recent gameplay footage could have possibly been based off China Towns of New York City.

Could be possibly. But im sure it would go into Brooklyn and not just Manhattan.

Yeah, I can sort of see a resemblance. Sort of. Who knows, though. And it doesn't really matter, anyway.

It was just recently revealed that Isshu is indeed, based off New York City.

This is not a innovative idea (in my opinion one of less innovative ideas in Pokémon history), however if it boosts sales then it boosts sales. Be prepared for Tokyo and London based regions.

I got an inkling of this when I first saw the pictures

I have to disagree with you on that, their might be some stuff that we can do in a poke-game (or any game for that matter) that was not possiple due to culture differences.

In other words, localizers can have an easier time to pass, if not most, all content that doesn't need to be altered or scrapped off entirely...

And proud member of the Mega Mario Movement!

There already is a Tokyo based area. Compare the original Kanto region to the Tokyo bay area.

Love and tolerate.

Thank you for correcting me. Am I right to say that the Sinnoh region is based off Hokkaido?

Yes, and the Hoenn region is based off of Kyushu. Here's a link to a good map of Poke-Japan.
