Yep.  It's true.  It's time that I, as a Nintendo fan, swallow my pride and give ModNation Racers the credit that it so richly deserves.  I will look at both games and show you why ModNation Racers will come out on top.

Gameplay: Well the gameplay is very similar.  You race around tracks and collect items.  You use those items to blast the other racers into oblivion in order to race your way to first place. 

Advantage:  Toss up.

Controls:  The silky smooth controls of ModNation Racers will be a gamer's dream compared to the controls of that Nintendo racer that leaves your arms feeling like spaghetti within a half an hour.

Advantage:  ModNation Racers

Graphics:  Come on.  The graphics on ModNation Racers will show off the raw processing power of the beast known as the PS3.  Once again the Wii shows that it's games are an eyesore.

Advantage:  ModNation Racers

Characters:  ModNation Racers really should have done better with this.  Would it be too much to ask for them to have a line up that includes Sackboy, Kratos, Nathan Drake, Ratchet, and Clank?  Having to get one of those characters as a special preorder bonus doesn't cut it.  Despite that Nintendo racer's epic shortcomings, they do have some characters from the Nintendo universe.

Advantage:  That Nintendo Racer

Replayability:  ModNation Racers looks to have a great track editor which will keep you coming back for more.  User generated content has made big hits out of Little Big Planet, Warioware: DIY, and Blast Works.  It's proven once and for all that gamers are much better level designers than game developers.  That Nintendo racer has you racing the same boring tracks over and over.

Advantage:  ModNation Racers

So in the end, looking at my comparisons, it should be evident to everyone that ModNation Racers is going to be a much better game than that Nintendo racer.  Not only that, but I think that it will outsell it.  Yep, that's right.  It will definitely outsell Donkey Kong: Barrel Blast.  I will go out on a limb and say that it will outsell both Donkey Kong: Barrel Blast and ExciteBots: Trick Racing put together.  That's nothing to scoff at.  Sony's racer will probably outsell two Nintendo first party racers combined.  

It's too bad for ExciteBots though.  That game will probably have a higher Metacritic score and have much better gameplay than ModNation Racers.  This proves that sales don't always necessarilly = quality.

But the Karting king will ever be Mario Kart. It is since the Snes days.

Mario Kart Wii isn't at 22M for no reason. ModNations may sell what? 2 million?

In the end, the Nintendo setting is what counts to me. Characters, songs, itens, tracks... that's more than half the fun to me. A bullet bill for example... you can't compare a missile to it, even if the missile is better, more precise, etc... IT'S A BULLET BILL, DAMMIT!

No trap can compare to chain chomp either :P

Very nice read :) and thanks for putting the sales not equal to quality comment as well, but sadly I think many will use that very argument over and over

ps: I totally agree about the character thing btw. Hopefully they will release a free or really cheap DLC to include all.
