Forums - Website Topics - How to post a ______ on VGChartz

So, since I happen to have a question, I thought I'd start this topic for anyone who is having trouble posting something on this site: users have variously struggled posting links and images, or embedding any type of media -- let alone figuring out how to single space your comments.

I'll start with mine: how do you embed .gifs in your posts?

how do you post pics

There is an icon among the posting options that looks like a little tree -- that's for inserting images. It will ask you for the images name. Simply go to the image on the internet, right click, and choose "copy image location" option. Then paste the results in the Image URL space.

The end.

Pretty simple. If you are using the rich text reply, there is an image icon in the toolbar that you click.

A window pops up:

You must copy and paste the URL of your image into the Image URL box and click insert. It will display inside the text box if done correctly.

If you want to embed directly into the quick reply without that other hub bub, you must have the image URL:

e.g.: http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/5908/imageqh0.jpg

and enclose it in img tags as such:

<img src=" ">

The URL goes inside the quotes.

This also applies to endurance's question.

You can't post a picture unless you press reply on one of the posts though

This seems to be working for JPGs for me (I've been using it for those purposes for some time), but not for animated GIFs, which is my issue. Are you... sure this works? Because I just tried it, and seemed to get nothing....

Edit: Oh hey, it does work. I had tried it, but the GIF doesn't animate until you actually post. IVE BEEN TRICKED. Also, thanks Dolla!

Oh ... yes, I forgot to mention that it doesn't animate until you actually post. I can understand the confusion. And you are most welcome.

A difficult task depending on what type of video it is.

Youtube videos are the easiest. Go to youtube and find your video of choice. Each video *should have an Embed section beneath the About This Video section. Simply copy the entire URL and paste it here.

Many times it will display simply as code:

What I do is just click the Edit button on my post and then click Post again, and it will fix it for you.
