Forums - Website Topics - Nasty virus in one of the site ads

Got a nasty spyware/virus on my comp from going through VGChartz last night. Had to run Malwarebytes Antimalware in Safe Mode to get rid of the damn thing. It definitely was in one of the popup ads.

I got one as well few weeks ago...

One of those "your computer is infected"...took my browser over as well as windows explorer. I found the EXE that was causing it and ran spybot afterwards to get rid of it...

Sadly I don't know which ad it was.

Had my browser Hi-jacked too and on saturday and sunday VGChartz was un-useable on internet explorer.

It kept crashing the browser every 15 seconds! Fix your adds ioi please. (Think it has already been fixed but I think we deserve an apology)

I'm guessing it effected the UK users?

By the way Disolitude, what was the .EXE called if you remember? It's probably festering away in my computer now but I always shut down my browser instantly if it ever gets redirected to some anti virus/free scan site. Nothing was detected.

the one I go was for the System Defender "antivirus", which will render ANY application you open as "corrupt".. pain in the arse.

please e-mail admin (at) vgchartz.com and include all the information you can. Your location (ads vary by country/region), which ad it was, and which page you were viewing and what ads where on the page the problem happened. The more information the better chance ioi can remove the offending ad.

Not again....!! hasn't happened to me yet, although theres a nasty virus going around at the moment with exploit adobe reader and java codes! So watch out for your processes for an application called 0.098409579083 (or something similar as its changing constantly) and also close Adobe Reader in your processes if you didn't expect it to open.
