My only issue is the fact that theres no grace period and that every infraction is an escalation on the previous infraction no matter the seriousness or the relative time between them. Otherwise we have a great moderation team, its just the banning system itself.

The other stupid thing is if you get suspended you get a PM saying how long for.....but your banned and cant see message until your accounts back and you dont know its permanent or life.

I think the mods here are great. They very rarely ban for people expressing their own opinion, but they do ban people for expressing cliche propagated opinions, (such as console X is childish). I think that's a good system because it forces people to defend their opinions rationally instead of using constant stereotypes that are rarely true. Yea, these mods are >>>>>>> neoGAF.

Honestly I think sometimes the Mods take things a little too seriously. But it is hard to blame them with some of the things they have to deal with. But I think some of them need to chilllll.

I was banned for arguing with Wii fans by a mod who appeared to be functionally illiterate.

To answer your questions on why it was a ban. If you read the forum rules we use a progressive banning system. 1st offense is a warning, 2nd is a ban. Every time after is a longer ban, even if the offense was "minor" in comparison to what you may think deserves more time. While this may mean someone calling another user an idiot leads to a 1 month ban, they already had 5 chances or so.

I'm sure I'll get flack from them when they get back, but I'm not the one who decided that the best response to a "troll thread" or whatever it was, was to try and derail the thread while insulting the thread creator. They could have easily reported the thread or they could have just blown it off, or even countered the argument. Every single one decided that they'd rather directly insult the thread creator by calling him stupid, a bitch, or whatever.

Finally, I'm leaving this thread unlocked, but don't be surprised if it does get locked, as these kinds of threads turn into mod bashing threads. Also, per forum rules, discussing mod decisions in the forums is generally against the rules as we'd rather you talk with Naz (since these devolve into mod bashing).
