Waste? Nah. What would I buy instead? Music? No. Clothes? No. Anything else? No.

Granted, my collection isn't that huge... but everything I buy, I try to finish,

The only thing that I have more of than my games is my DVD collection.

I have 6 DVD racks - only 1.5 of them are games :P (Each rack holds between 60-80 DVD/Games)

I have the same problem as you Severance -_- I've become more of a collector then a gamer sadly. although that wasn't what I set out to do.

I can think of only one reason for why that is. It's all because internet Hype. I buy game after game just because I hear how incredible that particular one is. It's becoming an addiction of sorts. So much that I'm getting too lazy/overwhelmed to finish or even play them at all.

The only solution I guess would be to avoid the internet and fellow gamers.

For me, it's not so much about the "hype" (OK MW2 and ODST were...) but the fact that a cool looking game (to me) comes out and I had no idea about it, at all..

Case in point RoF I never even knew about until a month before it came out, checked trailer, looked cool, bought it though still have not played it (still sitting in shrink wrap)  because another poster on here mentioned HoN as I started a DotA thread.. again another game I never knew about, so that's been sucking up my time, hence why RoF is still in it's shrink wrap.

Oh and btw, HoN rocks, love PC games, makes it easier to drink while playing ;)

I'm a collector, but unlike you I have them on my shelves for easy access when I actually do want to play them. Unless you're going to use the money for something or are short of cash, I really don't see the point in selling them. You'll just feel bad afterwards. I thought about selling some of my games, but I know I'll be sad afterwards...

I have over 100 PS2 games but I've only finished bout 15 of them. Just makes me feel good at the end of the day lol. And that to me is worth it, even if someone else doesn't think so.

I guess I'm a collector, but I play most of my games. I also buy old games (used obviously) I could easily dl and emulate if I find them for cheap.

"And yet, I've realized that maybe living a "decent" life means you won't ever have a "good" life."

I too love to collect games, limited editions and pre-order bonuses. Hardly play the games or sometimes even too scared to open them for fear of depreciating the value. When I first had an NES and Genesis, I dusted my Genesis and game cases weekly, kept all my Sega things in order. I let my Nintendo stuff go to shit though. Perhaps it was my Sega pride that lead me to do that or maybe it was my fanboy Nintendo friends at school that instilled an inner hate inside me towards Nintendo, back then. Being the underdog system and black is closer to my tan Asian skin, I felt the need to protect Sega. Anyways, that's too much information and I'm going off topic.

My love for collecting has carried over to other things, such as magazines. I also have that fear inside about touching magazines, bending pages and smudging them. Back in the day, I had an interst in comics also. Always kept them in protective plasitcs and backboards, scared to read them. That has carried over to me putting magazines in protective plastics and backboards.

At work and at home, I have become a packrat. I get scared to throw things aways. I fear that one day I will become a hoarder.

The one thing that I love, love, LOVE to collect is... porn. Homemade, ex-girlfriend, revenge tape, milf, black on asian, whatever type of porn. If the internet can provide it for free, then I will FAP to it. This type of collecting, I am not affraid to touch and I will touch it all day long if I can.

This brings me to the conculsion that digital distribution will be the answer to my sickness. Digital distribution will solve all those fears that acompany collecting.

I just buy games for the sake of having them. Here are some games I bought and barely played:

Eternal Darkness
Star Fox Adventures
Resident Evil Zero
Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike
Geist
P.N.03
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

The only rare game I own is FE: Path of Radiance. I heard that's worth a lot now.
