Forums - Sony Discussion - PS3 Custom Firmware 3.21OO Release Imminent

UPDATE:
Still no specific release date known.

If you wish to keep using Linux (or the ability to install it) on your phat PS3, don't install Sony's official firmware. The current official firmware is said to blow a specific eFUSE, which can't be reversed and which will make downgrading impossible.

"Well certainly with the Xbox 360, we had some challenges at the launch. Once we identified that we took control of it. We wanted to do it right by our customers. Our customers are very important to us." -Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb (10/2013). Note: RRoD was fixed with the Jasper-revision 3 years after the launch of 360

"People don't pay attention to a lot of the details."-Yusuf Mehdi explaining why Xbone DRM scheme would succeed

"Fortunately we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity; it's called Xbox 360,”-Don Mattrick

So his fight is purely to support OtherOS? Who's to say someone else won't use his work to go down the Homebrew route?

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

Who is to say someone won't use your keyboard to bash someone else's head?

Your head??

Really, what kind of question was that? Anyone can abuse anything. The end.

Yes but this is something that isn't normally accessible, and can lead to massive abuse.

Intentional ignorance just makes you look stupid. That's the worst line of argument I've seen in this OtherOS discussion.

PS: I would bet Sony are just about ready for firmware 3.22. :)

If Sony hadn't unlawfully forced the consumers to either lose Other OS or the ability to play future games, BD movies and use PSN, there wouldn't be a CFW.

Sometimes things are just as simple as they look.

He started hacking the PS3 way before Sony announced "Other OS" removal (that's why Sony removed it in the first place)

Please remind me what they achieved by this.

PS.
Geohot was NOT working on a CFW before Sony unlawfully forced the consumers to either lose Other OS or the ability to play future games, BD movies and use PSN.
