If true, I guess they don't like sales all that much.

FFXIII has shown where SE need to be if they plan on doing exclusive stuff...

Oh come now.  FFXIII was always destined to sell more on PS3.  It's been a PS franchise for 2 generations now.  Other SE games would obviously sell much differently.

As was Valkyrie Profile.

I will be sad if I don't get "Valkyrie Profile 3 : Hrist" on my PS3, and I know this game is going to focus on Hrist since VP focused on Lenneth and VP2 was Silmeria.

don't worry, it is time exclusive.I am sure Valkyrie Profile 3 will not sell very well on x360 in japan because japanese know that it will end up like star ocean and TOV.

Yeah, sure. But what's going to happen next gen when the tide turns and new leaders arise. They are going to go ass kissing and they are going to be turned away and are going to fail.

and no one said they were bad because they were on the 360.

Come on FFXIII VS we know it's going to happen since XIV is a pretty much given.

You could just buy a PS3.

OT: Wouldn't they announce this during a Japanese event? Or E3?

If I do that I will know from myself that I will start buying more games and before I know it I am in a dark alley selling my body for crack of war or uncracked

What does that mean? FF13 sold almost as much in the US on the 360 as it did on the PS3

to all those hating on square for backing the 360:

what do you want them to do, say no to money?

MS: ey square, you want a few million dollars to make a game (timed) exclusive for us?
Square: hm, but the 360 doesn't sell the types of games we make...

Square thinks for a minute.... : sales = money.. so we want sales.. but if they want to pay us for the money we would make anyway for sales....

Square: how much money is that again exactly?

think about it. sure they want to sell their game. but they only want to sell it to make money. if someone were to pay them the money they were going to make anyway from sales, why not? it's a hell of a lot better too coz the money is going to be there before development, so essentially square has nothing to lose.

Nothing to lose? HELLO?!!?!

How about the credibilty of their games, and the loss of the fans that could have purchased future installments?

lol, what's all that stuff compared to money? and it's not like the games suck just because they're on the 360. and if you look at final fantasy 13 tracking above final fantasy 12 in the west despite the "betrayal", it's pretty clear that they haven't lost any credibility whatsoever.

square is a business. it isn't a PR company that wants to please the fans first. they want to make money first and foremost. again, if someone will pay you for all the sales you would've lost, then there's no loss at all. it's super super better because square has no risk anymore. even if the game flops, hey, we got paid for it anyway and it's not like the game was different just because it was on the 360.

You're missing the point here.

What is the point in making a game exclusive and/or timed exclusive when it shrinks your fanbase by 25%? Star Ocean went from selling 1.1M and 1.3M to selling just over 800k and most likely never reaches it's past 1M+ numbers.

They hurt their biggest franchise with the timed exclusive strategy.

Now if someone doesn't pony up the dough next time around for a weakened franchise they end up potentially losing more than they gained.

You can try to survive on the strength of your franchises, in which Star Ocean was Tri-Aces strongest, especially in the West, but trying to survive on constant money hats that won't always be there is not really a good way to survive, let alone increase fanbase sizes.

Tri-Ace should be doing dual launches, not timed exclusive launches.
