Don't think the internet is gonna like this.
fastyxx said: Wow the Wii is really underperforming. It has 49% of the marketshare, but only 47% of revenue. Slackers. |
u forgot hd games cost $10 more.
Wii dominates current 7th generation consoles with 47% of global Platform Revenue
Console games profits for Sony/Microsoft come from Software, as consoles sold at a loss. The lower cost Wii has generated Profit for Nintendo.
When you include the profit made by the sale of the Wii system and games for the Wii it has 47% of the revenue marketshare, this is different from saying the Wii has 47% of Software revenue.
very nice indeed for the wii, the day the consoles are digital only is the day i get out of the getting any new consoles, and instead stick to playing the older systems.

...generational console marketshare revenue...

there can be a 9th generation, easily. retailers would just sell download cards like for the PSP Go. Console power would be increased dramatically in a ten year space. DLC might make things hard to track, but hardware can be. |
By the 9th Gen we could be streaming games. I don't think the OnLive model will work as it curretly is but by then it's feasible.
ssj12 said: ok... umm... what is this report. Why should I care. How do they calculate revenue when there is TONs of unknown revenue factors in the PC market from indie developers being paid through sources like PayPal. Does this even include PC, and that last line makes zero sense other than the gamestop part. |
It specifies console, which I'm fairly sure excludes portables

actually it includes 2 sectors from the PC market, web based and MMOs. From what I could tell, no handheld. I;m rather disappointed that they didnt include a full view of the industry. Lot of data there, useful in some ways, useless in others. |
No it doesn't. It even states that MMO/casual/mobile growth will constrain the console market.
