And you know what, that kind of thing hurts.

A bunch of friends decided to go for some mountain hiking, possibly even towards a big buddhist temple. Well a few hours in, in a valley with a popular spot, I was standing in front of a big map billboard looking figuring out where we were going, and the next thing I know, I'm in the air, then the ground, then stumbling around shouting "holy sh#t I got hit by a car", then woozy. According to the cops the driver hit the gas instead of the breaks. She rammed in to the bill board and totaled her car. If I'd been standing a foot to the right or closer to the bill board I probably would have been killed. 

As it is, x-rays and ct scan checked out ok, though I've got to go back to a hospital tomorrow to get checked again (at a hospital where some of the staff speak better English!) 

So, anyone else ever been hit by a car?

hit by a car? not really. Bounced off the side of a truck? yes.

I was riding my motorcycle and went to make a left hand turn right after I got cut off by another driver. I wasn't paying attention to what I should have been (the oncoming traffic), and instead I was angry at the driver that cut me off. Luckily the other guy saw me and swerved just enough so that instead of hitting me, I hit the side of him. (remember, if someone cuts you off, don't get angry, pay attention to what you are supposed to pay attention to)

I didn't break anything, but boy was I sore for days.

Yeah several times, but it looks like you have me beat for intensity of the experience!

Btw nordlead, what does cutting someone off mean? I hear you USAans talk about it.

Wow, I hope you're okay.

I got hit by a car on my bicycle here in Japan about 2-3 years ago. I was riding on the sidewalk and because there are a lot of blind corners here (I don't know why they allow buildings to be put up right next to corners blocking the view of the side street).

Anyway, the guy in his car came out of the little side street without really paying attention and hit me with his car, well he mostly hit the bike. I fell onto his hood and rolled off onto the street. My foot hurt for a few days and my bike tire was "bent", but otherwise I was fine. Luckily he wasn't going that fast when he pulled out or I might've had a severe injury.

Snap, glad you're alright Stof. Remember to look both to the left and your right before minding your own business.
