Yeah, if you're willing to look Wii actually has a good collection of quality 3rd party games, particularly in the last couple years. RE:4, No More Heroes, Tramua Center, LKS, Dawn of Discovery, Muramasa, Mad World, Zack and Wiki, Rune Factory: Frontier, Okami, House of the Dead: Overkill, etc. And stuff like Red Steel 2, Monster Hunter 3, and Epic Mickey on the way. 

It's still ridiculous compared to the support they give HD consoles though, especially when you consider the user base of the Wii and the fact tha Hd projects are far more expensive than Wii projects.

Yup and if it got even better I would be broke again. Between Wii and DS i am always spending most of my money after paying my bills within a week or two.  Not to mention the nice WiiWare games.

i think the inclusion of nintendo in the console war is beneficial for wii owners. for years good games for the console came from first party developers which are getting old.(imo anyway, i'm getting sick of mario) nintendo has been monopolizing motion controller based gaming, but after the release of the move and natal this year, it will all change. Nintendo will even try harder to differentiate themselves, offering cheaper, better and more innnovative products to wii owners and prospective buyers. (ehem, nintendo i want HD, hard disk capability, a decent online system, dvd playback)

so overall its good. competition is good because the winners here is always the consumer.

I find it highly unlikely that she would take her son's reaction as gospel, in this sort of matter. In all likelihood, I would imagine that the piece wasn't meant to be taken as a serious, professional assessment of the state of the gaming industry.

But no more! The day is here and the war is finally including the Wii! Innocent posts regarding the Motion controllers and 3D are nowadays 200 post threads debating who was first, who does it better and who invented what. Hallelujah!

It only took 4 years but we did it! We can finally experience a full out war and enjoy derailed threads beyond those that are PS3 vs 360 topics. The PS3 and 360 war however, has taken a backseat for now. But who cares, it was a dated war anyways. Now the giants clash and we're in for a treat! Yey internet!

So... How does it feel?! Was it as good as you thought it would be?

It only took HD twins four years to became a true next gen console and soon you are there. (Its hard to be in a fight when the opposition hasnt really showed up to the track to compete untill four years have passed.)

So How does it feel? Will it be as good as you thought it would be?

This is really the issue though isn't it? If you look at the titles a good number are in niche genres that not everyone will want to play (NMH & Madworld) or are remakes of older games (RE4, Okami) and many just don't have the production value and quite simply... effort associated with the HD games. I have a number of games on Wii yet very few I've actually bothered to play to completion (probably about 15% of my library as opposed to about 80% on HD/PC) because a lot of the time it feels like the developers have made little effort so why should I?

Having said that, Red Steel 2 piques my interest and Epic Mickey as well (although more because Warren Spector is doing that game and Deus Ex is my fave game of all time). Also, I got Dead Space Extraction, and I must say that it actually feels like some effort has gone into the game and I'm enjoying it far more than my time with the HD Dead Space (which I hated). It might be on-rails, but it's still quite good.

Anyway, my point is that it's the top selling console of the gen and should get some better 'core game' support.
